The new racing surface seems to be causing trouble. Smoother and lots of grip, but the braking points are all different. The new Continental tires may also be part of it. The grass is taking a beating.

Stevenson Motorsports never did run Corvettes, the season befor last they ran Pontiac G6's, then switched over to Camaros. Lou Gigliotti ran a Corvette last season, and I believe Banner Racing did as well. I'd think they would rather run Vettes, those Camaros look huge compared to the Porsches and Mazdas.

GM had Pontiac in Grand-Am and Chevy in ALMS with Corvettes. Pontiac is dead, so they replaced them with Camaros. Independents can still run Corvettes, but most of them run Porsches.

Looks like montoya is playing bumper cars out there again. Had to replace two noses on the car from his driving into others. They interviewed one of his teamates a while ago and he said he wishes the car had a tag on the back that shows the current driver isnt Montoya, and thats from his own teams driver!

Stevenson Motorsports announces 2011 plans
Racing series GRANDAM
Date 2010-12-13

Stevenson Team Returns in 2011 With Entries in Rolex and Continental Series 2011 Rolex 24 Marks the 100th Race Entry for Stevenson Team

The No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro GT.R will return to the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No.16 for the 2011 season with an all-star driver line-up including Robin Liddell, Jan Magnussen and Ronnie Bremer. All three will compete together in the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona with Robin completing the full season with Jan and Ronnie finishing out the driving duties as races conflict.

The team will also field the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro GS.R in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge with Matt Bell and newcomer, John Edwards sharing wheel time.

The Stevenson entry at the 49th Rolex 24 at Daytona will mark the 100th Rolex Series entry by this race team that operates out of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Since Watkins Glen in 2003, Stevenson has campaigned Porsches, Corvettes, Pontiac GXP.R's and now the new Chevrolet Camaro. With support coming from Chevrolet, Team Owner John Stevenson hopes 2011 brings their first Championship in both the Rolex Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

Sad that such a talented driver sees it necessary to drive like a complete idiot and use his car as a battering ram, I think he's getting a bit too much of the NASCAR mentality. I just don't have any respect for a driver that uses force instead of driving skill to make a pass, he basically took out both the #99 Gainsco and #10 SunTrust cars by side-to-side contact in places he had no business being, the video doesn't lie. I think if I'd been either Bob Stallings or Wayne Taylor, I'd have been right in Chip Ganassi's face telling him if Montoya came near my car again, my driver would put him so far out in the weeds he'd need a machete and a tour guide to find his way back. It's too bad that GrandAm allows that kind of driving without penalties.

The 'Maro just seems way too large for that class. Don't see any Mustangs there now do ya?

BTW, as to Stevenson, I only know what I'm reading here.

Actually there was 1 Mustang entered for the 24, by Blackforest Racing, they do a lot of R&D work for Ford. The car ran some pretty competitive times at Daytona in the hands of Scott Maxwell, but for some reason they didn't start the race, I don't know why. I've heard through the grapevine that they intend to run the full season in GT, hopefully they do. I'm also hoping LG brings their Vette back in, Lou Gigliotti's a great competitor, he and I are both from Geneva, New York, and I've known him from way back when he raced a Datsun 510 against Paul Newman.

No, the supercharged LS9 isn't legal in either Grand Am or ALMS, the Caddy's will need to go N/A.

The sad part is if both GrandAm and ALMS would get together and PROMOTE their series a bit, and give them GOOD TV coverage, maybe people would go watch them instead of the boring NASCAR taxicabs. It's some really great racing, and the cars actually look like what's on the street (GT cars anyway), and with the different powerplants, sound different too.
