Default Where do you get your oil changed?

Hi everybody,

I know this may sound like a silly question but where do you go get your oil changed at for your Vette? Do you take your Vette to the dealership for this service? How much do they charge for an oil change if you do go to the dealership? Does anybody use Jiffy Lube or another express lube type place?

I live in Atlanta and we have some Corvette shops that specialize in Vettes that I might use if something major breaks. Thanks in advance!!

I will take it to a GM dealership but not the one in my town. I won't give them a dime of business or trust them with my Vette. I will drive 70 miles to a GM dealer I do business with and trust to treat the car with kid gloves while they have it for the oil change.

I do All my own oil/filter changes. At least that way i know it's done right. I Don't trust Anyone or Any shop to work on my cars. Way to many horror stories from other people with their experiences.

Not hard to do on a Vette. I made a couple of ramps out of wood and also have a couple of low profile jacks.

I change my own in my garage. I have used a dealership in the past but I was fortunate in that I had a dealer that I could trust.

The first oil change ~5,000 miles, I took mine to the dealer. They did a great job with no problems but the charge was ~$90.00. Burn me once, but not again. Now I do my own oil and filter changes. They won't see the Vette unless there is a warranty issue.

You don't have to be mechanically inclined to change the oil in a car.

Had an arrangement with a detailer. He took car of the upkeep on my '05 vert and I built/maintained his website.

He has since sold his business and moved out of town, so last time I used a Corvette LLC reseller lot for the yearly oil change. He charged $100 and checked all fluids including taking a look at the trans fluid. I guess that's a reasonable price but I'm spoiled from my previous arrangement.

I usually change the oil in all my cars, but, as a member of the Colorado Springs Corvette Club, our sponsor, Daniels-Long Chevrolet, offers an oil change (Mobil 1) with filter for $29.95 for Corvettes only; no special deal for our other cars. The last time I had it done on my 08 convertible just before putting it into storage last fall, the bill came to $100, but my charge was $29.95. Even with the coupon sale price of Mobil 1 5W30 at Costco, and a new filter, I can't change it for less. The dealer also let me in the bay to observe that the oil change was done correctly and to inspect the underneath of the Corvette. Daniels Long also gives us 25% off on parts and 15% off on labor. One cannot just go in and say they are members of the CSCC to get the discounts. Daniels Long issued each member a numbered VIP card. The number is entered into the computer and up comes verification of membership with the information each member provided as to address, phone number, etc. Had to order a door control module for the Z06 and I received the 25% off. The club has a great sponsor and I hope we can reciprocate whenever possible.

Corvette is one of the easier cars to do. Do it yourself. Do it right.
For about $4.50/qt for Mobil 1 and $7-$10 for a filter it's a nice 30-45 minutes.
