Default Steering Wheel Removal

I'm removing the steering wheel for install of a new DSV wheel. I need to know the size of the bolts that would be used with a puller. These would be the ones that thread into the steering column for the puller to pull against. I may not need to use a puller but just in case I would like to have the bolts as plan B.Thanks for the help.

I think the late model gm cars use a hook system. I just removed my steering wheel and it was stuck pretty good. I pulled on each side alternating and it worked in a flash.

Just get a gear puller. Our wheels don't use the bolts bit (no threads in the steering wheel holes and good luck getting nuts on the things if you try it that way.) A cheapo gear puller (4 inch? 5 inch?) will do the trick.

I just swapped mine over to a DS Vettes wheel. I didn't need a puller. I was ready with an air hammer, as well. Didn't need that either. Just a good solid tug from side to side and off it comes!

1/2 inch? ... I doubt it! The one in my car could easily do double duty in a public transit bus! I've had numerous sports cars and coupes and have NEVER seen a steering wheel this big before!

Needed a puller on mine, but this (or a pulley puller) is what I used.

I just got the wheel off of my friends car to install a new DSV wheel. Sorry no pics, not my car. Anyway, the wheel came off with no problem what so ever. The entire change out took right at one hour. Not too bad for never having done it before. Thanks to the forum members for the help on this project and a big shout out to Lino at DSV.

never had to use a steering wheel puller usually just forcefully grab at wheel a couple times and it comes off.

guess I should read more , I helped a buddy of mine install his steering wheel and took about 10 minutes from start to finish. Biggest pain is gettin the air bag out quickly. Once thats done its all down hill.
