Default "High Flow Power" Coupler question

Is there really an advantage to replacing the accordion coupler between the air intake and the throttle body with a smooth or "high flow power" coupler?

If it was that simple, GM would have done it.

(That's an opinion.)

I have a red smooth air coupler on my LS2. Do I notice a difference in power, idle, performance? Not really. But if you look at both designs, it makes a little sense that an inside smooth surface would be less restrictive than the stock accordion curvy uneven inside surface.

Buy hey, that's my opinion. The main reason was that I wanted a red coupler to match my engine details...
