Another Option for your Hood
I too have a blank hood pad with the c6 logo indented into the fabric. I have decided to paint mine because of the high shipping price of the gm parts one. My idea is to use caliper paint or something equal followed by a clear laquer that way it will be heat resistant and have a nice shine after the fact. I have a VY Vert and I am going to do mine with a Yellow Surround of the emblem and the checks in the flag yellow instead of white. This is only an opinion and we all know what they are like but to me there is something to looking at a finished product and saying yep I did a damn good job on that. The other thing is it gives you options to do it the way you want. My only thought would be to use high quality heat resistant paint....unfortunately your not gonna get that for 10 bucks....but invest 40 in to it do it yourself and have a conversation piece to talk about when you go to your next cruise in. Again just my 2 cents!

The main reason I created a visio of the cross-flag C6 logo was to create a mask for spray-painting my hood liner. I am a firm believer in blue painter's tape and a long roll of butcher paper. The idea was to be able to make various masks that I could then tape up - and go color by color.. It's still too cold here to do it - but give it a month and we'll have the AC back on.

It seems cost is a deciding factor. I question whether you need to purchase a new hood-liner at all. Unless your existing hood-liner is exceptionally filthy chances are it would work fine. You can't wash (soak) a hood-liner but you can brush it, vacuum it and even blot it with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. I'd go for paint versus some applied decal that might not adhere perfectly or might start to peel with engine bay heat over time. If you don't feel comfortable painting it yourself I'd find a quality custom paint/graphics shop (or better yet a 'pin-striper') in your area. You could even have a pin-striper do the outline work then fill-in the 'inside' color yourself. Good luck!

Not!!!
form PartsTaxi for $196.88 plus $76.36 shipping. (The shipping is ridiculous as the thing weighs about 3 lbs). But that is the actual shipping cost due to size, not weight. To that you will need to add the cost of a lamp kit unless you want a blank rectangular hole left looking at you after you install the insulator. The light kit runs $35 plus $10.12 shipping. So, for $318.36, you're fixed up with the Genuine Corvette Accessories color hood insulator. About a 5 minute install job, including the light kit.
Buy it from your local dealership, even at list price ($225) it's a much better deal!

Well, since I don't have tons of money to **** away, for $55, I bought a custom made logo and installed it myself. needed a can of Permatex All Purpose adhesive spray, a hair dryer, and some patience. I think the results are pretty good! Believe me, that isn't coming off!

I had this airbrushed for $150. I just placed an ad in the local Craigslist and on my Facebook page asking if anyone with mediocre airbrush skills wanted to try painting my hood liner. I actually had multiple people enquire. The guy who painted it was the local high school art teacher just wanting to make a couple dollars on his summer break. This was several years ago and I'm still thrilled with the results.

There have been various threads about custom C6 underhood pads with various airbrushed logos or themes.
I would just like to have your thoughts on the standard type Corvette 'flag style' logos that are more common.
Seems like there are about 3 approaches this:
1. Cheapest way to go is buy the Corvette logo decal. These can cost as low as $39 on Ebay to a high of about $80 if purchased from a Corvette specialty store (maybe better quality than the decals sold on Ebay?). Obviously, these would need to be applied to a new/ or nearly new underhood pad.
2. Then you have a brand new underhood pad with a factory applied Corvette logo. The P/N from GM is 17801773 and has an MSRP of $225, but can be bought for as low as $158 from various online GM parts stores.
3. Then the most expensive option that I found is to purchase an underhood pad with a custom colored embroidered Corvette logo. Cost is about $400 which includes a new underhood pad ... Or you can buy just the embroidered logo by itself and glue it on your own pad at a cost of about $280 (seems pricey to me)
That seems to be what is available. To me, I think just buying a complete underhood pad at the discount price of about $158 from GM might be the best way to go.
Anyone here have any ideas or input from previous experiences with these?
