Default Michelin Man

OK I just bought a set of All Season Michelin run flats and I cannot believe how quiet they are in comparison the the GYs. The difference is remarkable.

I'm planning to buy the same tires later this year.
Of course, I would expect the new tires to be a lot quieter than the old worn ones.
With that being said, I've only got 13K on my GY's and I can't wait to get rid of them.

I get mine installed monday.

REALLY looking forward to dumping the worn-out GY's.

I installed PS2 run flats last year. What a difference in ride, and they're quiet.

I had the same reaction when I made the switch with my C5. Will be doing the same thing with the C6 soon.

Default add me to the list

I just went for the Michelins myself. I bought a set of Z06 repro wheels from WCC and took the day off to have them changed over. When the service tech removed my old tires, he showed me where they were all cupped on the inside edges. They praised the Mich's telling me how they have installed them on several corvettes. I had only intended on remounting the old tires as they still had some life left in them but the wife said "Why don't you get a set?" I said "Are you serious?" She added "Why pay twice to have them mounted and balanced." Smart woman. I think I'll hang onto her. The tires look awesome on the new wheels. I'm a happy camper for sure.

The Michelins are a pricey tire. And there are many less expensive quality tires out there one can run. I am a firm believer that 99% of the time, you get what you pay for. This article , from Tire Rack sold me on the Michelins. http://blog.tirerack.com/blog/letter...&AID=10398365&

Wouldn't the all-seasons give up a good amount of dry road traction? Just curious as to why you didn't stay with a summer performance tire.

I just ordered me a set of tires yesterday. I was seriously considering the All Season Michelin run flats, But instead I went with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. All reviews were positive and even has a better rating than the Michelin. I get nervous just thinking about it, I'm a firm believer in Michelin. Sure hope I haven't made a mistake. Much cheaper as I went with Non-Runflats, I figure if I have a blowout, was going have to call a roll-back anyway. and if I pick up any nails or screws, tire will stay inflated a day or two, if you don't pull the object out......

I easily pulled .85g with my Mich A/S ZPs, in about 40 degree cold where summer tires would be risky. It is a great tire if you don't track the car. Even if you track a car there are better options out there for track day instead of the PS2 ZP. All tires are compromises, you got to give up something to increase your ability in other areas. Living in Utah I figured that I would most likely hit temps 40 and below then the track or pulling max g's on a highway. The grip below 40 degrees or in rain/light snow is especially amazing compared to the OEM tires.

You can get them for about $1400 a set at Discount Tire with full non prorated road hazard warranty for 3 years. That was out the door price for me.

A summer tire is an excellent choice if you just want to use your car in the Summer and don't mind getting poorer tire life. The all season tires is a better choice if you want to use your car year around, or at least in temperatures below 50 degrees F., and want to get longer tire life.

Some inaccurate information included in this article. Specifically it is stated that for 56 years all corvettes came from the factory with Goodyear tires. Not so; I purchased at least two brand new Corvettes, one each in the 60s and 70s, that did not come from the factory with Goodyear tires. My '68 RPO L68 coupe (427 CI 400 HP w/3 x 2 carbs & 4 spd close ratio trans) which I ordered, came with Firestone Wide Oval F70-15 Red Stripes, and my '77 coupe came with Firestone 500s; just two that come to mind. I think that the '70 and '73 convertibles came with Firestone white lettered tires, but can't find my window stickers (which I always save) to verify. My '78 Silver Anniversary did come with Goodyears, though.

2020 C5 of the Year Finalist - Modified

Default Michelin PS2

I have run the Michelin product on several of my cars and trucks and I feel like they are the best tires out there..
You will pay more but they are worth it.
I ran a set of 275 55 20's on my 07 silverado for 85K miles.
My wifes 99 has the Piolt Sport AS Z on it and they are much softer riding and quieter than the GY's.
Just purchased PS2's for my 08 and will continue to use the Michelins anytime I need replacement tires on anything...
