Default A/c Delco Oil filter!

After doing a oil change on a friends (non-vette) car. I noticed his A/C Delco
filter was made the same as the walmart supertech. I mean exact!
So I was getting oil and looked at the A/c Delco for my ZO6.
Sure enough it was like the supertech. Looks like they went cheap for profit!
Must meet the spec but!!!!!!!! I perfer the Wix or NAPA
Gold, same filter!

The Delco and Supertech filters are both Champion Lab Ecore designs.

That design has an "economy" reputation, and not considered the highest quality filters.

I use Napa Gold..... Each spring they put them on sale for about half price... The timing varies by market... our sale here was two weeks ago...

Depends on what Delco series you're talking about. The UPF Gold series are more like the Mobil 1 filters and have some pretty good performance stats.

Only oil filter problem I've had since I started driving in 1956, was with a PF44/46 on my 98 C5. I won't put another ACDelco on any of my cars. I use WIX on my Mercedes and my 56 & 64 Vettes. I use Mobil1 and K&N premium filters on my 09 Z06. I would use the UPF48R, which is the same filter as the Mobil1 and the K&N, but the UPF48R is a pain to find. Every parts store in my town carries Mobil1 and K&N oil filters.

Here it comes. I'm getting my mind messed up again. I always use the Delco PF-46 for my C5 and PF-48 (if I remember right) for my C6. Now I'm reading that they aren't so great. GM is giving me an inferior product? GAG. So, Wix or NAPA? What to do, what to do?

You can tell the difference in filtration?

Cut them open to actually compare. I recall some websites that have done this for us.

As for GM brand...use the gold. This is a good filter.

While I like using a good quality filter, no one here will ever drive their C6 enough miles to ever find out whether one filter is doing a better job at filtering oil than another filter. So the answer is to buy whichever filter makes you feel best about your car. I've had my '74 Trans Am for 34 years now, with over 200,000 miles on it and the Fram filters that it has used are still keeping the engine going. How long do I have to drive it before I see a difference? Will that difference be showing up at 40 years, or 50, or 60? I'm waiting....
