You noticed better acceleration from an oil change? I think you must have taken a sugar pill.

I use it in my lawn mower. Cuts 10 minutes of my mowing time and the grass is even greener! Great stuff!

I know some will state apples and oranges. I can only comment on the Dominator 2 stroke oil. I use that for my Yamaha Banshee's. Many dirtbike buddies, that have rebuilt engines that have used Amsoil, and engines that used other brands, say the proof is there. It does protect the walls better.

Since I first started using AMSOIL in my vettes, I have noticed slight increase in oil pressure and cooler engine temps, smoother shifts at all points in the AT using their ATF, and a quiet diff. I change my oil every 5k miles and notice better viscosity and lighter color (less break-down) in the AMSOIL 5W30 during drainage, than other products that I have used for the same life cycle and driving conditions. "Subdriver" can really fill you in with data and customer observations. He is the AMSOIL guru.
2X Severe Gear is what convinced me of the superiority of AMSOIL products. It is not often that a product makes such a clear difference that one can see. Most of the time we choose somewhat on blind faith. I have chosen to put my faith in AMSOIL due to the outstanding success I had with Severe Gear on two vettes including my 06Z06 that continued to chatter even after the local dealer made a fluid change to the Mr Badwrench fluid of the time (prior to DEX 6). As a preferred AMSOIL customer, I buy at dealer cost and that puts it on the same price level as Mobil 1 but with a superior product to Mobil 1. AMSOIL ASL is a Group 4 PAO where most of us are fairly sure Mobil 1 is only a Group 3.

Spend your $$$ and put your faith wherever you want to but in AMSOIL I trust. Is it necessary?? No, but it is what I choose to use. JMHO.

It appears to be a quality lubricant. However, it is not certified as recognized by GM and in the event of a significant warranty claim (lilke engine failure) its use could invalidate the factory warranty. Of course, if your car is out of warranty.....

I previously researched this thoroughly, after getting an oil change at ECS (it's all they use and recommend, which speaks well of the product.) But after posting the topic on this forum, and reading up on the subject - I soon replaced it with Mobil 1. Again, I believe its a quality product, but I chose a course of action that would not involve a debate with GM over my warranty in the event of an unforseen problem. Maybe that I'm over cautious, but I'll wait until my warranty expires before using it.

The Amsoil XL and OE series are certified and or the equivalent of Mobil 1. The Amsoil EXTENDED drain series are not certified but are a higher end oil then Mobil 1. Amsoil has lots of products. Slower sellers due to cost are not certified. But the oil that is recommended for your Corvette is.

I use amsoil products in everything I own, from diesel trucks to the corvette. But I also get a great deal on there products. If I had to pay retail I probably wouldnt.

I believe what they advertise and their long drain interval makes it worth it.

Actually you will pick up a few horsepower after an oil change. The effect goes away pretty quickly, but I have seen it in person with back to back dynos, with very light oils on motorcycles.

Would used 5w30 produce less than 0w30 new oil? Its definitely possible, as Ive seen that type of change result in 2-3hp gain on a 150hp bike motor.

I just got an email from an AMSOIL dealer and office colleague transmitting a bulletin published March 29th to dealers that AMSOIL's top tier (25k drain interval) ASL product meets and exceeds GM's new dexos1 spec in the 5W-30 viscosity grade. AMSOIL had sent me an email last fall answering a direct question I had for them regarding dexos1. They advised that 1st quarter of 2011 would be the timetable for reformulating their top tier motor oils to meet dexos1. They have now done what they said.

I've heard adding a couple quarts of their 75W-140 gear lube to the engine really increases oil pressure. You might want to try that.
