Default Cleaning the Glass

I have a 2011 Z06 and I purchased a decent Glass Cleaner for it. Here is my problem. When I wet it down and wipe it off you can see all kinds of different streak marks in the glass. It looks fine dry, but wet, all kinds of stuff shows up. I want to fully clean the windows and get this "under streaking" off the windows. I need some help on this...what have the rest of you found to work?

Thanks in advance

Scott

You could try straight vinegar, just don't get it on the paint.

Griots Glass Polish. Do it before you wash the car, find it puts off a lot of powder but cleans windows for sure.

Don't get the vinegar on the mirrors, especially the rear view. I am not sure about modern mirrors, but vinegar (even the fumes) will remove the silver backing from the old school dimmable rear view mirrors. New ones may be different, but I don't want to be the test subject.

I just use a fairly wet synthetic chamois (Absorber) and then polish dry with a mircofiber - no products are even necessary.

The trouble is that to really get the oily residue film off the glass you have to clean it multiple times. Nothing more to it than that, I find I need to do 2-3 cleanings to get all of the streaks off.

I had the same problem with my 98 C5.. After cleaning with various products always had the streaks when I pulled out of the garage and more natural light.. Finally I started using Griot's Window Cleaner with their lint free towels and streaks were gone.. I will continue to use it on my new C6.

Same here. Works incredibly well. Both inside/outside glass.

I use Meguires Ultimate Quick Detail Spray and a MF towel (both bought at from a local Target) to quickly clean the entire car including wheels, paint, glass, exhaust tips with no problems.

I have use Klasse AIO polish for years on the glass and nothing works better. It cleans and leave the glass very water repellant similar to the effects of Rain-X without the silicon issues. I put it on the head lights also. I have tried most detail cleaners and still go back to the Klasse AIO.

I use the 3M Glass Cleaner. Buy it at JobLots for a couple of bucks. Leaves a streak free shine and won't harm the paint. Been happy with it.

I hate doing windows, always streak. I bought this KB cloth (my aunt raved about it for glass) and you just wet it and do the windows and it dry's streak free. It's got some chemicals in it that dry it streak free. If the window is real dirty or dusty I wash it first with a sponge to get all the bugs off or dust then dry it quickly. Then I take this cloth and get it saturated in warm water then wring it out real good so it's just damp then go over the window and let it dry on it's own.

Works real good and no streaks. They aren't real expensive so get a couple and if you don't like the results you aren't out much money. Like $4 each I think.

Soap and water! Glass cleaners contain chemicals and additives. Those ingredients stay on the glass in a very thin film even after it looks clean and they only serve to accumulate more deposits after the glass "looks" clean. The only time you use anything stronger than soap and water is when you have to remove some goop or stain and then you should use soap and water to clean up after that. Follow up with a clean rinse and dry.
