Engine Dress-up - Alternator Cover problems, anyone else?
I have purchased several engine dress-up covers and the Alternator Cover is fastened onto the alternator with 3M tape and velcro. I was sceptical when I first got it and saw that's how they went on, well of course, I drove the car a couple of hours the other day and the tape came off. The Alt cover was kind of dangling there in the engine compartment. I have been looking for someone that makes them with a bolt-on method of installation, does anyone know if they exist? The tape thing really sucks. Also, I need to find a cover in body color, not carbon fiber or chrome. If you have any ideas to solve my problem, I would appreciate the advice!

Ed at nakidparts.com sells the chrome & black chrome alternator covers.. they attach like the 1 above with the alternator bolt.. he does the etched covers also. Not sure if he has them in colors.. worth checking into.. I tried the velcro style before & had the same problem. Now I have the etched stainless.. much better.

Got mine from Ed in 2006. SS, bolted in, and not a problem. Check out his web site nakidparts. I will say this, I also ordered a SS fuse box cover at the same time from Ed. That was fastened will tape and it's still on there. Maybe because it's attached to plastic. Ed will have the answer. Good Luck

Burning Brakes
nakidparts.com (or LEEA Customs Inc.) cover uses the top alternator bolt to hold the cover on. It will not move unless your alternator falls off

Actually the nakidparts covers sit well above the alt and have open end so absolutely no heat issues and requires no drilling. Some of the others have closed ends and cause poor air circulation. I've had one of their covers on since 06, no issues whatsoever.
