Default Battery Warranty

Does anyone know what the warranty is on the battery my 2008 C6 came with? It is just over three years old and needs to be replaced. I am wondering if the warranty covers any of the cost of a new GM battery.

DIY replacement? Make sure you get the right size battery AND that the terminal posts are oriented correctly.

That is, a poorly-informed parts guy might sell you the wrong battery.

If you're going with the OEM replacement, you need ACDelco 85-7YR. This is the correct nomenclature for '08 OEM replacement battery for the convertible and coupe (don't know about Z06). I replaced the battery in my '08 coupe on 3/17/11. The car was built in July '07 and placed into service on 9/1/07 so I got about 3 1/2 years out of the original. Paid $125.17 at my local Chevy dealer parts dept. for the new Delco and installed it myself - took my old one back for them to dispose of.

In my years on the GTO forum reading about Delco battery failures and my own experience, Delco batteries seem to be marginal at best
If you are out of warranty or close to it I would consider something different than a DELCO for sure.

I agree, to a point. Delco batteries used to be absolute crap. But with that being said, they have gotten much better over the last couple of years.

John - The battery comes with the same warranty as the car, 3/36, but the replacement you purchase will have a longer warranty on it.

Agreed on the past crappy performance of Delco batteries. I've never gotten more than 2-1/2 years out of one until the wife's 08 Enclave, which is now 3-1/2 years old.

Kevin,
OK, just opened the hood on my '08 coupe and there's a ton of green and tan corrosion under the ACDelco red + terminal cap. Cleaned it up the best I could. I don't have any problems starting the car but now I'm concerned it's only a matter of time before I do. Do I need a new battery or should I just go with it. I've got 12k easy miles and it's always garaged. I think my warranty expired 04/11.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Think base C6 battery models vary by year, but an Autozone 90-DLG dropped right into my ZO6. Another forum member in the C3 section posted some Advance auto parts discount codes for online purchases. Purchased a gold series battery yesterday for another car with code "BIG35", and whole thing ended up at $80 bucks with tax and core exchange. Worked like a charm, as ordered online and picked it up down the street. Expires today the 25th, so gotta move on this. Gold battery is a Power Frame unit w/3yr free replacement.
