The wheels that are made by Speedline(my Z06 spiders are) are low pressure cast in a permanent mold. About 30% stronger then wheels that are gravity cast with the same dimensions. I don't know if all the current OE Corvette wheels are made by Speedline though.

My understanding is that the only forged GM wheels for the standard-body Corvette, were the 2008-2010 Gumbys, chromed or polished. All others are cast, but i don't know which casting process(s) they used. Not sure about ZO6/GS.
In theory, forged should be stronger/tougher. But I've seen C6 wheels locally that hit a pothole big enough to damage the tire and dent the rim but the owner simply bought a new tire and had it mounted. Rim has not shown any evidence of cracking or further deterioration. I wouldn't do it that way, but it's not my car.
