Just finished doing this... 5.5 hours after I started
Slowly converting the Vette to look like the Pratt & Miller Z06X (with the exception of the spoiler )

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Within a week or two the headlights will go black and ive been considering the ZR1 replica wheels in black with a red pin stripe.
Thanks. I used a 1/4" masking tape as it is easy to create a radius and works really well. If you stand at a certain angle with the right light you can clearly see the two tangents (body line that transitions between a radius and a line) from where the radius of the bumper converges into the top and sides of the car. I wrapped more of the bumper then required, took my time taping off where i wanted to cut, and very lightly scribed a line with a razor blade along the edge of the tape. The contrast between the tape and semi-gloss vinyl made this very easy on the eyes.
I would say that this job is not for the beginner type at all. The bumper looks simple, but imagine forming a flat piece of paper over it. It took me 6 hours to finish and I am a VERY hands on crafty person. I personally did it so i could live with a black bumper for a bit to see how much I really like it and if i didnt i could tear it off only costing me my time and $160 (cant say the same about paint). I loved it the minute that the vinyl went on so when I do the wide body rear end I plan to have my paint guy replicate this with paint.
This should really work well with the black wheels and black headlights to come!

Well simple.
Vinyl = $160 and 6 hours of my time
Paint = $500+ and disassembly/paint/assembly time
I wasnt sure that I would love it and it might affect the resale of the car (if the time ever came). So if I wanted to get rid of it...
Vinyl = $0 and about an hours time
Paint = $500+ and disassembly/paint/assembly time
Total cost to my pocket if I didnt like it...
Vinyl = $160 and 7 hours of my time
Paint = $1000+ and 2X disassembly/paint/assembly time
Everyone that has seen it in person thinks its paint so the math works for me.

Wow that looks like lots of work and talent..
Reminds me of those "Spy Shots " on MotorTrend magazine when they want to cover front or rear end shots of cars with various black tape stripes or lines..
Just my opinion..
