Default Owners of Cyber/Grey Vette's, do black or grey wheels look best. Pictures welcome.

I own a 09 Cyber/Grey Z06 with crome spyders which I like alot. However I am soon going to buy a set of black or grey wheels to put a set of track tires on. Just wondering what your opinions on the subject are and please show some pictures.

Thank you,

Older guys like chrome, younger guys like the comp grey or black, so replies will be generational. I'm partial to comp grey, I don't prefer the contrast of chrome to darker colors like others.

For track use (or everyday use), comp grey would be my choice!

For track use, I favor competition gray. Black wheels in my opinion simply disappear, and even if they don't, they remind me of the "base" wheels with tiny hubcaps that are standard issue on government owned vehicles and taxi-cabs. So unless you have a yellow Vette and really want to play up your taxi cab heritage, I would stick with comp grey, or any other gray. Chrome dosen't belong on a race track.

Chrome looks nice, but the weight kills them for me.

Go with a nice lightweight black set, like the ultraleggeras.

For track wheels definitely black. For every day wheels I'd go brushed or polished aluminum.

I'm old at 68, but the chrome wheels are awesome, IMHO.

That said, my wife loves the gray ZR1 at Bill Kay Chevy, shod with CGs, and I agree with her that the car is about perfect.

Black wheels don't look good on anything. They are "show" wheels. If the car is sitting still and in good light they might look okay. But most of the time they simply disappear. Racers pictures above are a perfect example. You really can't even tell what the black wheels look like, and it's just sitting there getting it's picture taken.

I know there are plenty of people who disagree with me - and that's fine. But you asked!

BTW, for you chrome haters - I don't necessarily disagree with you, but there are damn few affordable options in machined or high polished wheels today. My favorite finish is machined.

Seems like the type of wheel and the color of the car really has an effect on the color of the wheel you use.

I have had chrome, silver and gray wheels ... like them all, but again, the style of wheel and car color matters on which one I woud select.

I just removed the stock silver GS wheels and replaced them with Comp Gray Spiders on my SSB Grand Sport ... looks good, but if I had something like a set of ZForce wheels on my SSB car, I would not want them in a gray color.
