Default Borla Stingers and drone......

I have an 05 with the A4 and was thinking of getting some Borla Stingers. Do any forum members have this setup and if so do you get any drone at highway speeds. I recently heard a fellow forum members and they sounded great but he has a manual. He said he has no problem with drone but I was wondering if my auto would make a difference. Anyone have any answers????

Thanks.

I have added the Borla Stingers to my A4 2005 just a couple of months ago and I have no drone. Its just enough "tone" to let you know you have a V8 but not enough that you cant have a civilized conversation while driving at highway speeds. And I speak from experience as I Traded in a 2004 Roush Cobra running Spintechs with no cats and side exit exhaust. I WAS an expert on "drone". The stock exhaust had this vette sounding like A TUGBOAT, I hated it but love the sound of the Borlas.

We have completely redesigned our classic "Stingers" and now have the "Stinger II" or "S-Type II" which has completely eliminated drone while maintaining the classic sound everyone likes with the classic "Stinger" or "S-Type". I can assure you that the new "S-Type" does not drone at any RPM, in any gear, automatic or manual.

For more info please see the video link below.

Here is a link to the new "S-Type" or "Stinger" system for the 2009+ C6. We will have part numbers for C6 prior to 2009 next week.

http://borla.com/products/product_de...rod_sku=140440

We also still offer the "Classic Stinger" or "Classic S-Type" for those who prefer the original design.

You can find a much better price through a distributor than you will buying directly from us so please look around for pricing and availability. Also, we offer a rear section as well which is less expensive but doesn't give you all the features and benefits of the complete cat-back.

Please send me an email to davidb@borla.com if you have any questions.

Thanks for your interest!

well that is a pretty definitive answer from david borla, I'd say. (I didn't know that the new S-type is the former stinger. good to know.)

I was locked on a Corsa purchase for the Massachusetts tax free weekend this weekend. After watching the videos above, I'm liking what I saw on the borla s-type (type 2).

Are there other owners of the S-Type that are happily drone free? That's the Borla #157-11744 for a 2006 6.0 axle back?

Wow, how can't you love this forum. I ask a question about Borla Stingers and Mr.Borla himself chimes in with an answer. Thanks for the input everyone, now I just need to decide where to buy them and who to install them.
