Bought a c6 conv. 2007 with 5000mi. Everything is as new but it feels heavy in the front. I traded a hyundia genisis coupe 3.8 track in on it. It seems like it under steers, tire pressure is good, i will look at ps fluid in morning.Anyone else sense this?

Does it have the F55 option? If so, put it into Sport mode to see if it feels "lighter"

It probably just needs to be waken up out of its slumber of driving an average of 100 miles per month.

Try raising the tire pressue (to 35 cold) and let us know if the steering got lighter. Then readjust the pressure back to norm.

Raise the front end and turn the steering by hand from the wheels and compare/ inspect (links, bushings and all).

Also turn from steering wheel and listen for noise (helper needed).

Turkey baster (DIY style) out the old PS fluid and re-install w/ GM OEM oil. Typically not the issue unless wrong oil is in system. Don't forget to follow the air bleeding procedure.

Could be acclamation to the wide Vette tires over the Hyundai.

When you say it understeers, are you saying the car is lazy to change direction, or are you saying the steering wheel effort is heavy?

If you mean the former and it still has the original tires, they just might be shot from age and low on grip.

2007 w. 5000 miles, I tend to doubt the tires are shot. UNLESS there is an alignment issue from early in its life.

there are many threads on the correct, street-setup for an alignment in the search column above. if it were me, I'd have the car aligned properly for your use first---after checking tire pressures.

and unless someone took out the original power steering fluid and put in some junk or didn't get any air out of it when doing so, I can't imagine that being an issue.

remember that alignment is not a thing that just stays a-ok until you get new tires. it actually can change if you hit something as you drive out the door of the alignment shop which you may not think was so hard. considering the cost of our tires, once a year for an alignment isn't a relatively huge expense. again, considering the cost of a set of tires worn out prematurely, that is.

If you are comparing the Vette steering to the Hyundai it certainly will feel heavy to you. The 08 Vette has a upgraded steering and feels much lighter than the 07. I have driven them both and there is a noticable difference.

The improvement on our 2009, over our previous 2006, was surprising.
