i bet both drivers would like a do-over. people in the second car are very lucky. i'll bet they take a better look next time before crossing oncoming lanes...with or without an arrow. i know i will.

LOL, don't get me wrong. anyone DUI deserves to go to jail. Too many people die. Just looking at the circumstance. If she was not intoxicated, the Pontiac driver would probably be 70% of the blame. Insurance company's fight. Turning into on coming traffic is a moving violation. You must wait till traffic is clear. Think about it. How many of you have been driving down the road, not doing the speed limit and some idiot decides to turn in front of you, thinking they can make it, only to cause you to jam on breaks and swerve to avoid a collision. i've seen an intoxicated driver sitting at a red light and a SUV rear end the guy. He was just sitting there, but was charged with DUI. Sh..t happens. If he wasn't drunk, circumsatnces would be different.

Obviously, DUI is bad and it was her fault, but the lack of compassion here for someone who's life is over for a single mistake is disturbing, and I ain't no liberal!

Drunk or not the Vette driver is 100% to blame. Article doesn't say if the left turn was legal besides I'm guessing the speed limit is max 50 mph. If some idiot is coming at you at least 100mph you don't have much time to react.

A person like this should lose their driver license for life and not receive any government/insurance handouts. At least no one in the other car was severely injured or killed.

Got it. Thanks.

Yep, the closing rate at 100 or better is unbelievable. Turning left in front of legal speed traffic contributes to many serious accidents. The poor souls doing so in front of this drunk numbskull had little chance.

It's sad, and it makes me wonder about the strength of the halo/B-pillar

Very sad, I've seen her around town and saw her at a gas station, at that intersection, earlier that afternoon.

I believe the speed limit through here is 35 down from 45 about 200-300 yards back the direction the vette was coming from. There's also another signal light intersection about 200 yards from this intersection that the vette had to go through at a high rate of speed.

I have to slow way down at this intersection, due to the steep crown in the cross street, to keep the front air dam from scraping hard. At her reported speed she was most likely airborne when they made contact.
