Agreed. I was skeptical but I used it the last time I washed my car. Haven't washed it in nearly two weeks and the wheels still look close to perfect.

My feelings exactly. The brake dust on the GS wheels is inbelieveable - as shown:

I tried the Armor All product - and although is helped - it was NOT the answer. It maybe helped for a couple extra days, and maybe it helps to rinse them off easier, but I wanted a better solution.

I followed all the threads which basically says to go with ceramic brakes. I wanted a single pad (instead of the multiple padlets) and didn't want average braking power - so I went with the CarboTech Bobcats 1521's - hardly any noticeable dust, AND better braking power than OEM.

Me likey!!

I agree, i have been using it for several months and it works great, wheels stay clean until it rains while driving or its just time for a wash job and the california duster won't do the job. We were using it on our coupe but since we just bought our vert last week i can't speak on that one but i see no reason why it will not work on it too. Also our car is a daily driver.

I got fed up with the brake dust from the stock pads. I installed a set of Carbotech bobcat 1521 ceramic pads.
Don't notice any dust. No noise. Good stopping power.
Best mod I have done on my car so far.

I tried the AA Wheel Protectant too, and it works great on the wheels. Trouble is that brake dust was all down the sides of the car and the back of it.

Went to ceramics. Life is much better now.

That's remarkable. I have never seen even the smallest amount of brake dust on my wheels. I'm sure brake dust does exist, I've just never see it except in photos.

From the looks of your avatar, it doesn't look like you have a GS - which is where the biggest culprit for brake dust exists, even more so than the Z06's. I still think GM used cheaper and more inferior pads on the GS.

If you are getting this on your wheels after applying the wheel protectant then you are not applying it correctly. That's how the wheels on my Z06 look after a week WITHOUT using the wheel protectant!

No - this was before I applied several coats of the AAWP. After the application, it did improve, but I was definitely still getting some dust build up. It wasn't until I went to ceramic pads did it REALLY change the issue.

Hawk Ceramics. Reduced brake dust by 80%.

True, my comment was more of an observation about brake dust in general. Owners of all Corvette models seem to complain about it. I've never had an issue in my '05 with OEM pads, or now with the Hawk ceramic. I was unaware that the GS was more prone to it.

I've compared the GS OEM pads to the Z06 OEM pads and, to the naked eye, they are physically identical.

I honestly think it has a lot to do with wheel design, and how those big, thick spokes churn up the dust! Where the Z06 has either a spider design or a 10 or 20 spoke design, possibly keeping the dust on the "backside" of the wheels!

(I know that's a long-shot, but just a theory!)

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

i just got off the phone with adam at carbotech and went with the 1521 bobcat pads, all this talk of this wheel protectant that barely works for couple of days got me off my butt to finally order some new pads. now as far as the hawk pads go ive spoke with several guys that use them in there gs and z's and were unhappy with them! they all knew the importance of bedding them in properly and still it seems there were issues for some. i hate having to gamble on things so i guess what made me wait so long was listening to all the people here and elsewhere that have used these products so for me the carbotech pads were a clear choice. no more hair spray for my wheels!

This comes up often, and pretty sure both ZO6 and GS pads are the same Ferodos. Ceramics are probably the best comprimise for street use, but don't even think about using them on the track. If your OEM pads are low milage, should be able to recover a few bucks for them in the parts for sale section.
