My question, is there any risk or possible damage by keeping the flapper always partially open???

I don't think so but you may need to clean out the pipe if you ever want to restore the on/off action.

The kit with split stainless steel collars and the extra long allen wrench is well worth the money. And you can remove them anytime in the future to restore the system back to original. Keeping the valves open slightly, say 1/4 inch, provides a nice exhaust note, with nifty gurgeling and poping while deceleating down through the gears; so much cooler than pulling the fuse, and so much more considerate to your neighbors.

This thread is the opposite of the collars that allow you to block the valves partly open under vacuum.

The idea here is to block the valves partly open without needing vacuum on the valves.

This is one option from my junk drawer http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1578279839-post10.html but the idea above to use a couple of U clamps is a better idea.

Sheesh .......................... For all that nonsense, I'd just go ahead and buy the kit from Talon. How much gas and wasted time trying to chase the darn collars down. Besides which, what ever happened to supporting our forum vendors first !

Talon wrote that he closed down his retail business ... so, how is anyone going to buy these collars from him?

Unfortunately, no. I closed up shop as of the 7th. Mikey got in touch with me just prior to my vendor status ending so I was able to help him. I'd suggest that you get in touch with Peter at Top Flight reproductions. He should be able to help you out.

I'm not sure, I asked to bring 2 sizes out to the car to check. They were fine with it. I think it was the next size up from the smallest they had
