Passenger door hits fender

Passenger door hits fender
I have an 05 c6 and my passenger door is so close to the fender that if the car is twisted at all the door hits the front fender. Has anyone else had this problem and where are the adjustments either to the door or fender

I've heard of this before. It can most likely be fixed with a minor readjustment of the door. If it's not something you want to re-rack yourself take it to the dealership or a quality body shop familiar with C6's. Good luck!

I have this exact same problem. I don't know what caused it but my passenger door binds on the front quarter panel. I think the quarter panel needs to come out 1/4".

Heat can expand the plastic.
Does the door "hit" in the cold weather?
Either way, if the door is in alignment to the striker and does NOT drop on the hinges when you open the door....adjust the fender.
(Perhaps some bolts are loose or lost on the fender).
If car was in an accident...alignement may be more difficult.

My Driver side door had the same problem. It wasn't all of the time, and I didn't notice if it differed when I was parked on a level surface or somewhere else. I fixed it myself by loosening the door hinge bolts, and moving the door slightly. I just loosened them enough, so I could barely shift the hinge, then re-tighten, and try the fit. I must have tried about 20 times, but I got a consistent gap all around the door, and it easily clears the fender. All together it took me about 30 min to adjust, but I was being very cautious, and not in a hurry.

I had this exact issue on my '09 when I got it home from the museum. There's a bolt on the bottom of the fender (rocker) behind the front wheel that can be loosened and this will allow you to push the fender forward just a tad and then tighten it down. Only need to move it a millimeter or two to get enough clearance to stop it from catching when the door is opened.

I drove my c6 this morning, then went out to drive it again about 3 hours later and my drivers door is doing this. was fine earlier, now it's hitting the fender bad enough that I cannot open the door. no accidents ever and was working fine just a couple of hours ago. it was in the sun, but at only about 70 degrees. just seems really weird, only thing I can really come up with is the heat loosened the bolts and allowed the door to shift??

update, after moving the car to some shade, real fun climbing over the console, drivers door is back to normal. so it was in fact the heat causing the fender or door to expand.

It has been already mentioned that heat can and will cause this. The modern Vette materials will grow in the heat and then shrink when they cool back down. This has been a very common issue with the C6.
