The brake calipers on the Corvette are ugly, and like lipstick on a pig, coloring them doesn't change their basic ugliness. Best to cover them. Same goes for the alternator.

Calibers on thenew GS are pretty good looking. I just wish i could figure out how to paint them and replace the corvette label.

would look alot better with them off and powdercoated your color. I'm sure they help to keep your calipers hott as hell.

When I purchased my Corvette it had them on the car. I told them that if they are on the car when I come to pick it up - it will be a deal breaker. I personally don't like them. But some people do and it is your car.

I did go with a bbk after however.

Caliper cover heat field test video:

"Enhance wheel appearance · Reduce brake dust, caliper heat and break fade · Fast & easy install · No tape, glue paint or special tools required · TIG welded · High speed engraving · Hydraulically formed · Powder coat finish · 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum · Patented fastening system"

Marketing hyperbole - already been exposed as BS here a few months ago when a similar thread to this one went at it.

Really...which aspects? Is that heat test not legit? I certainly see less break dust, that's for sure. I haven't done any heat tests though.

They would look better without the black dots, they are what makes them look fake imo.

The cover is going to show less heat, but the caliper underneath is most likely going to be hotter because it's like wearing a hat.

If you like the look go for it. I think you will find more people like them than dislike them if you do not count CF members.

^^^^ That's what I've found.

On the test video, he says he's measuring the heat on the top of the caliper, which is not covered. Hmm.....I guess I'll have to conduct an independent test to be sure.

Exactly, he's not measuring the actual caliper on the one that's covered, he's measuring the cover. Common sense tells me that the caliper itself has to be much hotter because the cover prevents ventilation.

It's not just a "cover" for a "look" it's a faux big brake caliper. If they merely covered the stock caliper there would be far fewer haters.

The only thing holding me back is the price. They seem to be twice as much as they should be IMO.

Reminds me of something out of a J. C. Whitney catalog.

Appearance = so so

Reduction in brake dust = a good thing

Increase in brake heat making brakes less efficient = maybe

Bottom line, someone needs to do a test on whether braking performance is decreased by these covers. The answer should make the product more or less appealing.

Yes, it's Atomic Orange.

I've had the MGP Caliper covers on here in TX through days of 100+ degree heat, and the braking has been fine...no noticeable change from before I put them on.
