Default Non-run-flat tires for the grand sport

I own a 2009 3LT Z51 Vette, and there is an abundant selection of non-run-flat tires available for it and which I only desire to use. I’m thinking about moving up to a new GS coupe or Z06, but it appears that the only replacement tires available for those models are of the run-flat type. Now, not to get into a war on run-flat vs non-run-flat tires, all I want to know is, has anyone found non-run flat tires for their GS or Z06 other than those made by Nitto? I’m sure the Nitto’s are fine, but not easy to come by in my area. Thanks for any info.

You are just going to have to accept the fact that you can still keep driving after you have a flat.

Had Nitto's put on my GS yesterday and I am very happy with them. I did keep all my RFs because if one of the Nittos ever has irreparable damage, it'll take at least 4 days to get a new one.

Where did you purchase your Nitto's?

Michelin, Pirelli both make Z/GS size tires in a non-runflat.

I got some General Exclaims, to bad they are not made, Nitto seem the most popular in the Z crowd

At one time that was the case, but Tire Rack no longer has those listed and Tire Rack does not carry the Nitto brand.

Being that I have a Toyota FJ Cruiser, the Vette is used in nice weather. A comment was made about rain ---- any problems with Nitto's in the rain?

Discount tire lists them. I have the INVO's on my wide butt (275/30/19 & 345/30/19) and so far they are pretty good in the rain. I really don't push my car in bad weather. Compared to the Goodyear Asymmetrics that I had on before going wide, they are a lot better.

That works. I was still hoping there might be more brands available. Just about a year ago, Tire Rack listed several brands which made non-run-flats for the GS and Z06, but for some reason those same companies no longer make them. I'd hate to rely on just one company and then find out it decides to drop them as well. I'll give it some more time and see what happens. Maybe some manufacturers will step up and make some matching sets.

Thanks for the responses.

You're right. I just checked on the Discount tire site and the don't list any non-RF in stock sizes. Maybe try playing around with the sizes. go up a size or go a little wider and see what pops up. Good Luck!

Here's a source I've used: (They don't show the sizes either but if you went to 20s on the rear..........)

http://www.rimsntires.com/tire.jsp?b...tto&model=INVO

Here's other brands in correct size:

Kumho makes a stock size for the front but not the rear in the Ecsta XS. I replaced my RFs with these with 345s in the rear - never looked backed.

NT05 is a good choice but the 285 front seems to have vanished for some reason.

Can you mount 345 tires on stock GS rims for the rear? If so, that would be an option.

I'd go with the PS2's, but as I said earlier, they are no longer offered in non-run-flat version by Tire Rack, Discount Tire, Tire Kingdom, or anyone else that I have checked with. PS2's are only available at this time in the run-flat version for matching sets on the GS.
