Leaving the forum. Traded in for a BMW 335i
I have traded my 2005 with 89k in for a 2009 335i BMW. Black with tan interior. I know this doesn't sound so good. But in the last 16 yrs I have had a C4, C5, Porsche carrera 4, Then the C6. It is a big difference. But with 300hp twin turbo, I can deal with it for a couple of yrs. I already miss the vette. But I thought I would experence a different car for a while. Thanks for all the help from this forum. And I will visit from time to time. Hopefully in a couple of years the C7 will be out and I will return!!!

Not a bad trade at all.. its a great car and still very sporty.. especially if you can use the back seat in the Beemer. The '09 Beemer should have a 4yr/48k mile bumper to bumper warranty that covers everything.. even maintenance.. so your good for atleast another 2 years of worry free driving.
Good luck with your new ride, and by the time that warranty on the Beemer is up, the C7 should be out. I cant imagine too many people wanting to own a turbocharged BMW with no warranty protection lol. I'm sure you'll be back in a few years!

Yeah, just last year I thought a 2011 model vehicle with a 300hp v6 would be "enough" to satisfy me.
8 months later it was gone, I lost some money and I'm back in a Corvette.
It's okay, we all have moments of bad judgement. You'll be back.

I have no reservations of keeping my 135i outside of warranty.

Interesting. I was nearly dead-set on getting a 2009 335i coupe when I was car shopping a few months back. Then I test drove a C6...

The N54 engine has won the prestigious "International Engine of the year Award" 5 years in a row now. The TT plant is reliable and well built as the day is long. They had some issues with the fuel pumps but those have been resolved(also extended warranty on pumps to 100K miles).

This isnt to derail the OP's joy in his 335. As I said.. its great vehicle and it has alot of warranty life left. There should be many of years of enjoyment ahead. If it was a little bigger I would even considering buying one, sometime in the future when I needed a backseat.

Have you taken you Corvette in for service recently(that you had to pay for)? BMW's are really no more expensive to work on than our Corvettes.
There are many old BMW's on the road and many owners that swear by their reliabilty and many to say they would never own one, in warranty or out. Same as we hear with Corvette.
Of course anything added to an engine 'complicates' it due to additional parts and what not, that goes without saying. Im not concerned. When I added a S/C to my Vette I understand that it complicates things. I trust BMW engineering to do a much better job designing the engine assembly than just slapping on a blower on a C6. Its an accepted thing.
Since 07 I cant recall hearing damn near anything about turbo failures. The award I mentioned earlier also speaks volumes.
Im quite happy with my purchase and if in the future I change my mind, I'll get rid of it for something else.

I'm sure you love your 135 but lets be realistic. BMW's, on record, are historically some of the most problematic & expensive to repair vehicles you can buy. Turbocharging only complicates things, not simplifies.. that goes for any engine. Even still it may not necessarily be the N54 that gives future problems.. but owning a BMW that past its warranty is something most people would not find 'comforting'.

Had two never will own one again. 04-330 and 08-335. They are problematic and they are expensive to work on. I don't care what anyone says....I'll stick with my corvette.
335 okay fast but, I'd go vette all day long. Maybe cause I already did the BMW experience.....
By the way...next time you take that car out...in warm weather maybe a/c maybe not a few spirited runs...touch the hood. I'd like to see how hot you think it gets. I did that one time and almost burned my hand off. Those TT/engines get HOT!!! That can't be good...
Check out the e90 forum for info. Some people are nice there and some are ignorant jerks. Typical of some BMW owners....I think. Not saying you..just some. Like BMW has made the only car on the planet worth driving or worth a darn.

I have the pleasure of currently owning both and enjoy the hell out of both of them. If either one causes me headaches down the road I'll get rid of it. Easy solution. Till then, I have a barrel full of monkeys fun in either.
There are plenty of jerks wherever one goes. Thats life.

I am with King Richard. When I was car shopping 4 years ago, the BMW was high on my list, until I test drove a Vette. My best friend bought the BMW so I have had a lot of opportunities to compare. neither of us needs a back seat. Since I once owned a BMW, the Vette puts a smile on my face that BMW could not. Once I supercharged, the smile never leaves my face. Good luck to you, but there is no substitute for horsepower.
