My targa top fits just fine, but doesn't in my friend's coupe. Strange, I thought they were all the same. Anyway, I made him a new one with a slight indentation (about 3/8" from 5 - 7 inches in from the ends, and his targa fits very nicely. If anyone is interested in a DIY pictorial, I can shoot some pics next time I make one. It is really pretty easy, and all you need is a router ( a router mounted in a table is better). A couple of bits, and a hand held saber saw. The carpet I get from the upholstery supply is a flex type of carpet that doesn't have a stiff backing. It takes me about an hour to make a couple. It's mostly setup, and measuring.
Just a suggestion...why not just make a full size stencil? That way no measuring....just trace it and go

And to keep it from blowing all over the place I went to Home Depot and picked up one of those green tomato stakes, cut it to size , and slipped it in the bottom pocket. It is just enough weight to keep it hanging down and not blowing all over.

Not too shabby. Add a bit of matching carpet and you're all set.

Actually, I have a template for the ends. I just cut out a square blank, and use the template on the ends. As Norm says "Measure twice... cut once". I usually end up cutting it off three times, and it is still too short.

I just ordered some of the carpet from Southern Car Parts, so I'll post a DIY Thread when it comes in, and I get some time to make some more.

Gecko...sounds great...I've never done carpeting before and need some tips before putting it on...wouldn't want to do it and have people tell me it looks like it belongs in the back of a pickup truck! OH wait.....

I'm really getting sick of people saying " it's an expensive car " ......I paid $31K for mine.....Think about that for a minute.....how many other "regular" cars are so much more.

Yes, I put $10K in upgrades, because a stock coupe handles like a noodle.

People who modify their cars, make it expensive. If I did 0 modifications and just changed the oil like a normal person, I would've only spent $200 in the last year on maintenance and that's it!

Gas mileage is very close to what I get in my 2011 Malibu, and that's a 4 cylinder with only 170hp!

I think your idea is great. But..(i'm sure you're aware)......if that is a piece of No. #2 or #3 (knots) pine it will warp like crazy if you leave the car parked in the sun for any length of time. I'm going to make one from your pattern (thanks again) but I'll use something more stable like 3/4" particle board.

I would suggest MDF (medium density fibre board)

You could have used melamine shelving.

It even comes in black.

Buying the whole sheet for a small project is the problem.

I for one am a DYI guy as well. This project is one I would do, but I would cover in di noc. As for the corvette being expensive... it's NOT. Its a great car with the most bang for the buck. I would put this is my vette, but not my Mercedes SL 500

OP, you're going to really appreciate how much your partition adds to the enjoyment of your car. I've had one in my coupe since shortly after taking delivery and it makes a huge difference - the shelf area forward of the partition is now much more useful for things like CD cases, jackets, pretty much anything that you want to have access to while driving. I can't imagine having a coupe without it.

Yes, it's only been a few days, and I love it! Very very useful. No more fumbling around on the passenger floor, or having the fear of something in the trunk flying forward in a sudden stop.

One of those....GM shoulda done this kind of a thing INSTEAD of that stupid stupid stupid flapping piece of fabric!

"A dollar saved is a dollar earned" - Thanks for the dimensions OP! I like the suggetions for adding a Corvette emblem and the tomato stake to keep the cover from "blowing in the wind".
* I have a partition/divider that the previous owner purchased, it came with the car. I really like it, decreases noise level, hides items in the trunk and adds to the appearance of the cabin.
