Interesting. I have chrome Gumby's on my 07 but also have a set of 08 take offs for spares. Stupidly it is quite hard to tell but I believe the spares are polished not chrome. Any easy ways to determine?

Chrome will look like a mirror when clean, put you self close and see the reflection. In my picture (post #5) look carefully at the center cap and you can see me squatting to take the picture.

A chrome finish looks like a mirror, as stated above. The polished finish has a softer reflection and the color is slightly more white and less blue. While it can sometimes be hard to tell by looking at only one, if you can put the wheels right next to eachother, the difference will be obvious. All Gumbys are forged and made in the same plant...SuperAlloy in Taiwan.

In Rick's first picture above, the difference is obvious. The center wheel is polished and appears much whiter than the chrome wheel to the right of it, which has a more blue look.

Based on the production figures, I would guess the polished gumby (QG7, 5412 units) was the original offering in '08 and the 5-spoke (QX3, 9626 units) was still the only chrome wheel available. I assume when the chrome gumby (Q9V, 2932 units) was introduced, that the 5-spoke was dropped. The 3 to 1 ratio (QX3 to Q9V) suggests the change happened in Feb/Mar of '08.

If it is a GM chrome wheel, then the barrel is painted grey. The polished wheel has a polished barrel.
