"tinting" stock polished wheels
I'm doing the exterior of my VY Vette and it has the polished '05 wheels. I'm painting the halo black, black headlights and possibly black hash marks. I don't like any of the after market wheels that are under 2k and I was thinking of having a buddy at the GM dealership put a light coat of black and some clear on top of the polished ones. He'll already be doing the halo, console, and dash pods. I'm looking for a "black chrome" look. I don't drive the car in the rain and maybe only drive it a couple times a month. Ideas? It can't be less durable than the factory painted one right and with a light coat should look pretty cool. Thoughts?

I think it'd look good. the difficulty will be getting regular paint to adhere to polished, uncoated aluminum. but if he knows his stuff, it should be a two or three step process and successful. I'd like to see how it turns out so don't forget pics, plz.

Sorry don't have any thoughts other than I would like to see pix of the finished product or other samples your buddy has done.
