Custom Subwoofer Box for 2012 Grand Sport
(now with resized images) -- taken on a Canon EOS 7D.
So I've been enjoying my new Grand Sport for just over a month now. The Bose premium system is really great on sound quality except on very low bass frequencies. I got a tip on a killer audio shop in San Jose (All Pro Audio) and decided to ask them to take a crack at solving the issue.
My requirements were simple: make it look good, make it sound good, modify nothing that I cannot return to stock, and leave the ability to store the top under the hatch.
This is the car (with tint and taillight blackouts already installed)
And this is the solution:
Amp: Alpine PDX-M12 (1200 watts mono)
Subs: 2x Alpine SWR-T10 (shallow mount 10's, 600w each)
Enclosure: Custom
And here's the execution:
Finished box, rear
Finished box, front (yes the bat signal has a purpose)
The amp
The sub(s)
The switches. Leftmost = mild-to-wild, center = illumination, rightmost = amp gain. The mild-to-wild was a complimentary enhancement =]
The illumination strip
Installed, from rear
Installed, from front
Top mounts perfectly!
Install, different angle
From above, the bat-signal shows its true colours!
Looks great, sounds great, top stows perfectly, and everything modified can be reverted to stock in about an hour. Plus I now have a mild-to-wild!
Just thought I'd share =]

Can you reduce the size of your photos. They are too large and the site is freezing up trying to load them.
Best size for photos on a public forum is probably around 1000 x 800 pixels (or less.)

(well now that I can see them) the pics look great - nice job and nice car. Alpine makes good stuff. Amazing what good base can accomplish.
With my '05 vert with Bose I just disconnected the mono speakers behind the seats (vert only) and installed a 13 1/2" JL Audio enclosed woofer driven by a 750 watt JL Audio dedicated amp into the trunk. I left the Bose head unit and speakers in the doors, then later swapped them out for Polk Audio.

It sounds great though replacing the U3U nav is next on my list because the maps just suck.
It complements the Bose speakers well. These pick up where the Bose cannot reach. I'm quite satisfied with the Bose amps and speakers so I'll invest that money under the hood. The stock nav, however, has GOT to go.

changing fronts will sound good but not great untill you change out the radio. There is only so much you can do with the stock head unit
Great job on the sub box

I'm looking at the Alpine INA-W910. I've poked at Kenwood and Pioneer's nav units on displays and the response is too sluggish for me
Thanks!

So I didn't realize this at the time, but that install cost also covered my Alpine INA-W910 head unit we're installing Friday and the rear-assist camera. He's just charging me for parts on Friday.
