Default Where can you buy cross beam adapters?

I just checked NorthernTool.com and they no longer sell the the cross beam adapters that several members use to lift their C6--anyone know where else I can puchase these?

I used a 2 x 6 to span the jacking points. At the jacking points I nailed another short pad length 2 x 6 on the ends. Made one for the front and one for the rear.

Along with ramps, this design was posted in the C5 section.

I bought a cross beam adapter from Summit Racing. It's adjustable and fits into the hole in the center of the floor jack.

I bought a set on a certain auction site. I'll have to modify them to fit in my jack tho.

Here's the link to the Summit Racing crossbeam adaptor:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-918008/

It appears to virtually identical to what Northern Tool used to sell.

I was going to suggest a 2x4.

Would this be to wide it measures 27" to 34". I used a 1x4x10 and had no problem when I jacked up the rear, don't know about the front.

A quick Google search turned up Summit Racing, Amazon and Greg Smith Equipment. I'm sure a less quick one would result in a bunch more options.

Since each end of the car weighs about 1,600 pounds, I would expect a 2x6 to flex so much that most of the weight would be supported by the center of the crossmember at the jack pad itself; the extra pads on the end only account for 1.5" of flex.

How does yours look when you life the car?

The overall length of the 2 x 6's are 26". On each end the additional pad is 6" long. The car lift points are about 20" apart. I made these for a C5 but they work on the C6. I tried a search to find the post that detailed the design - could not find it.

I drive the car on 2 thicknesses of 2 x 12's on all 4 wheels to clear the undercarriage when I slide the jack plus the board thicknesses under the car. Once the car is raised I place jack stands at the 4 rocker panel frame points using 2 x 4 pads as lift pucks. If I work directly under the car I slide in a couple of cement blocks as added safety.

The 2 x 6's do not deflect much, certainly not 1.5". Between my C6 and C5 I've lifted the cars about 6 times with no problems. If you are skeptical about the deflection you could use 2 x 8's.

I have wood properties at work. If I get the chance I can calculate the deflection.

You don't need it and don't need the 2x4s. I have been jacking C5s and C6s many times per year for the last 14 years and have never needed that stuff. All it does is slow you down.

So how do you lift your cars because it is a pain getting it high enough to work under it. I would like a simpler method. I pulled the above off the forum several years ago.

Thanks for the info, and you can skip the calculations.
If it works, it works. I'll believe you that the deflection is minimal.
