Red nail polish scratch on dashboard of NEW 2011 GS!!! How do I get it off?
My darling wife was wiping off the dash with a moist clean towel and the tip of her fingernail left a faint red fingernail polish line across the front of the dash of our new Vette! Anyone have any ideas how to remove it without ruining the black dash finish ?

Just use some interior wipe/cleaning spray and wipe down the area with a micro fiber towel. I have a bottle from Meguiars thats specific to interior detailing. If there is a scratch that left an imprint into the dash, this won't fix it, but the spray should hopefully lift some of the nail polish off. I would not recommend any sort of nail polish remover or acetone on the dash, that can cause even more damage.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Over time it will dry out and come loose - frequent applications of an interior cleaner will help it along. Give it time - if you try to get it off all at once you could damage the dash.

Stuff happens. If light cleaning doesn't work, I wouldn't use aggressive cleaners or rub the surface hard as you could make things worse. Most Chevy dealers have a trim guy that comes around once or twice a week to fix paint blemishes, door dings, scratches, and repair leather seats and dash pads that have marks, discolorations or torn places in the leather. They do a lot of spot repair on used cars they want to prep for re-sale. It is what they do and the trim guy can probably make it look like new. I have used them several times over the years with excellent result. Good Luck.

Assuming it black leather?? If any of the above doesn't ultimately cure the problem, get one of the newer grey fine point sharpies. Just a light touch in a couple of spots will make the rest disappear.

Zaino Leather Cleaner Maybe?
Zaino makes pretty good leather cleaning/conditioning products that work on all the interior surfaces. Those or a similar product would probably do the trick.
And if it doesn't take it off, you can always enjoy the scratch. When my 05 was barely a year old, my then 4-year old daughter, who loved to sit in the front whenever I was detailing it, accidently scratched the leather seat with a buckle on her sandle. I'll admit my jaw was a little tight at first, but every time I see that scratch now, I see a little girl's face lighting up while she's sitting in daddy's Corvette.
Of course, that sentiment will not carry over to her riding in the DRIVER's seat when she's 16....sorry, toots.

also, the "magic eraser" would definitely work (I forget the brand, but it's a common household item), but you would need to do the whole dash bc it might make your dash just a tad bit shinier appearance in the spots where you used it....
no harsh chemicals!

Are you SCOLDING? Not required here as I meant no harm. I am not a wise-azz and was only truly offering to help. If everyone on the forum who is not certified in some way to comment on any subject-at-hand withholds his/her information, the value of this great resource would diminish greatly. I fully admit not being intimately familiar with this subject and am betting that is most often the case.
Cheers!
