Transmission choice - resale value?
In general Do you get the extra expense of an auto out of a corvette when it comes time to sell? Is there a bigger market for either type?

I do not see a difference at resale most of the time.
I do not think you get back the added expense of the Auto when you resell it. (maybe in the first year or two)
I have actually seen a slight mark up on the manual versions when looking for used.
Autos are very common. So some people charge a little more for the manual.

I'd pay more for a automatic car. I can shift with the best of them. I just don't wanna. If I was going to drag race give me a built auto. Road course a manual. Daily driver a auto. Plus autos have less issues.

Check the on line used car evaluator websites.
The good ones are based on actual returns from sales and show which options are worth money, and whihc ones are not.

Don't forget the extra expense of the manual trans also.
Dot4 fluid for the clutch every 1,000 miles.
Lost time and tow when the clutch sticks to the floor.
Aftermarket shifter.
Aftermarket shifter bushings.
Wear on the differential.

The automatic costs extra at purchase and then it is a "deduct for" option in the blue book value when the car is used. That said, I would never buy a Corvette or any other car with a particular transmission based on this. Buy it based on your preference.

If you consider the market population for a used Vette, you have a broader market with a automatic transmission. Used car dealers and regular dealers would prefer a automatic transmission for resale. Many more women will go for a automatic than a manual, the male population will go for the manual but there are still some if not many that want a automatic especially in a metroplex area. The younger male will go for a used manual, however, people buying a used vette are not usually into track activities and not in need of a manual transmission.
Here on the forum you are going to find a population that thinks of it as a sports car where there is no place for a automatic, however, the general public will think a auto is the best.
Bottom line talk to the average car dealer and I think they will tell you they would rather have a used automatic Corvette on the lot for a quick moving resale.

Corvettes are one of the cars where a manual transmission does not hurt resale.... With that said an Automatic will still generally sell faster as it has a wider appeal.
A nice Vette will always do the money... Condition and miles rule.....
In an sedan, say a Honda, Acura etc, manuals are worth way less to a dealer as they have a very limited market... "Sports" cars are of course different in that regard....
