u didnt mension if the check enginge light was on or flashing ,and what codes.1 thing i know, is that if the car started and you drove home few things to think about .1 airfilter is saturated and the airflow coming across the mass airflow will be low .causes car to run rough.try drying air filter and mass airflow sensor.car could have a poss bent rod causeing lack of compression in that cylinder which could believe it or not cause white smoke dew to unburnt fuel burning in exhaust.i would check out air filter first if you still have problems call hps like mike said .

p.s. as mentioned above OEM air intakes can injest water too. I did it to a Lumina and it bent a rod. It was my company car so fortunately it did not cost me.

Adding an aftermarket air intake is definately asking for trouble, and adds little if anything significant to performance. Of course, if you drive through standing water at excessive speed you can also damage your car, even if stock. Driving head-long into a large tree at speed will also yield similiar results.

Compression may not be the best indicator. A shop can place an emissions probe over the neck of the radiator with the cap off and engine running at normal operating temperature.. If hydrocarbons are present, the head gasket is bad.

If your car is still on the power train warranty take it to a dealer to have it checked. If the problem is due to water ingestion the comprehensive insurance will pay for the repair if it is due to a mechanical defect the warranty will pay for the repair. If the insurance pays for the repair and the dealership does the work you still have warranty coverage on the engine until the power train warranty runs out or the 1 year/12K warranty on the repair runs out.

You're right. Grammar and punctuation are horrible.

To each his own; but, I'd have to agree.
OP's car started & driven so he may be lucky, time'll tell.

Used to hear horror stories of HL occurring in downpours/standing water with certain aftermarket intakes on the bottom breathing C5s from time to time. Devastating. Was the #1 reason I never got one on my '03 AE, '06 or Z06.
