Default C6 CAGS 1-4 Skip Shift Bypass Fuse

I saw the recent thread reference the need for CAGS, but did not want to hijack the thread; Hence, my question.

Has anyone installed the fuse in their C6? A vendor has them on sale for $14.99. If the fuse is installed, will it cause a disruption/fault to the computer system and/or cause a Check Engine light Code? Will installing the fuse cause warranty issues/concerns?

I'd obviously prefer the fuse over the cable that requires one to lift the car and install the wire under the car...

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Tks in advance,

B

you can get the fuse in a box of 2 for about 1.35 at your local parts store...any vendor asking 14.99 is riping you and me off.
I've had mine for a year now, I keep the spare in my glove box. No lights, and the darn thing never forced me to go into 4th again! great 75 cent mod!

Check this thread. I just read that some have had the LED in the fuse go out, which cause the CEL. Blow two of them and keep one in the console...I haven't installed mine yet, but I did buy the smart fuses and plan on trying it in the next couple of weeks. I have 1500 miles on my GS and have really only been forced into 4th a couple of times, so it hasn't been at the front of my mind.

I've read several posts over the past 5-6 years about the LED failing after a couple of years and causing a CEL. I went with the CAGS eliminator that connects to the unplugged wiring harness at the transmission. Have had it for 3 1/2 years with no problems.

The first mod on my 06. Easy install, works great, no hassles, no fault codes.

X2, some CEL's were caused by the LED not providing enough resistance. But for a 1.35 try another one.

I have a CAGS eliminator on the transmission of my DD and the $14.99 fuse on the corvette. Both work with no problems.

Didn't work on my car; 2012 Centennial 4LT.

Plugged it into the #10 slot as the directions indicated and it turned off all my tail lights plus didn't deactivate the CAGS. The light works on the fuse but that's about all. Could be the wiring is a little different on my car.

Did you try reversing the fuse ? With the built in resister and led, the electrical flow may be directional.

the lit fuse is the one, is that the one you changed? Fuse #10 in row#12.

Yup, no and difference.

And yes on the #10, if you read what each fuse does in the manual, the #10 is the only one that is tied to the trans. Like I said, the wiring must be different on the 2012/4LT.....

I know for a fact that the wiring harness is different between the NPP option and Non NPP.....could have something to do with the 4LT.

There is a fuse label on the inside of the fuse box cover. It will tell you what the #10 position does. According to the manual it is the transmission.

Fuse No. 8 is for the taillights, and it happens to be on position #10. Typical confusion (GM could have done better ). Use #12 (fuse No. 10) and it should work.

The best solution IMO is a fuse with an SMD internal resistor soldered, like somebody did. I'd definitely pay $15 for that, but not for a normal LED fuse. If the $15 fuse is indeed one with an internal SMD resistor, please post details. Couldn't find any. Thx.

One Question: What does using either of the two methods (fuse or wiring to transmission) do to my warranty? Do I have to undo when I take into the dealer and re-do after I leave the dealer??
