"Service Traction Control" light on!
I have a 2008 Z06 and have had ZERO problems with it.
Lately I have been getting the "Service Traction Control" light that keeps coming on!
I do not notice anything wrong while driving.
Disconnected the battery a few times to re-set but still show up after a while.
Checked brake fluid, tires, etc.
Is this something I have to take to the dreaded Dealer to check out or is this a common "gremlin"?

Your problem and mine could be totally different, but I had similar warning lights on my 2010 GS. It did require a couple of trips to the dealer to finally get it fixed. The problem with mine was some type of sensor in the accelerator pedal. They replaced the pedal and no more warning lights for the last several months.

Since we have no way of pulling the codes from the other systems, except the PCM/ECU, the only way to know is someone or dealer who has a Tech2. On the C-5's, the cause is usually one of the wheel speed sensors or steering wheel position sensor. Next question is, is the steering wheel straight when driving down the road? If not, this too will generate an error.

gfroman,
This could caused by several different types of issues. I'd recommend taking it to your dealer and having them run a diagnostic on it. Let me know if you'd like assistance setting up an appointment.

Got the "service active handling" and "speed restricted to 168 mph" codes last August. First trip to the dealer had a repeat of thservice active handling, but the second message was"speed restricted to 80 mph."
Turned out to be a "loose pin on the high-speed LAN." Isn't that an interesting diagnostic for a car, even in this day and age. Seems to be fixed though, after three trips to the service department.

Just about to go through that process now.....(2010 GS Callaway SC606). Engine light came on about 7 weeks ago, then the traction control light and service message. Then a nice trail of blue smoke in the mirror. Had her towed back to my place. Started her the next day....some not very nice noises coming from some where up front. Had my mechanic come in...noise ended up being a failed cat converter (some nice bling coming out the exhaust as well). Took four weeks to get those in from the States. Seems oil plume may have been a sump plug nudged by something on the same trip. Gotta love coincidences.....! Have both of those fixed now but traction control and engine lights still coming on. Engine light error is from a misfire, so thanks to you guys and gals on this forum will go and check leads tomorrow and see what happens! Cheers Zed

Not one of the answers you are going to get here is going to be exactly what your problem is. I think the STC is a default message for "something is wrong". Definitely need a tech2. My light comes on as soon as I push the AC button. Tech2 says centering error and right side wheel speed sensor. Nothing to do with AC.

TC light on my '11 GS was caused by bad speed sensor on the right front.

Melting Slicks
The "common" causes are, weak battery, loose plug wire, blue bus connection under passenger side compartment, tpms, bcm, ebcm. Codes will of course help.

Traction Control and Service Active Handling System warnings came on Friday evening as I was backing into a parking space. Engine was running noticeably rough. Checked the engine codes Saturday, misfire on cylinder 6. Easy fix as plug wire had come loose. A $40 investment for an OBDII scanner is money well spent.

Same issue as the previous two posts, although mine was a cylinder #7 misfire and the “Service Traction Control” and “Service Active Handling” messages. Mine turned out to be a weak battery. I swapped coils and plug wires between #5 and #7 with no effect and the plug for #7 was a little fouled. Had to also put a fresh plug in, as well as a new battery.

I have been up and down with this issue for months. I have tried everything. Today my check engine light and service traction control finally went off. I’m almost sure it’s the battery connection.

It could be the battery. It could be the speed sensor in the hub. I've had this problem before. Or it could just be the connection on the wheel.
I made a thread years ago. See if can get someone to read the code the car is putting out.
