2. Fender stripes will now be applied to all four fenders from the factory.
3. Not only will all engines be hand-built, but the new Bose radio will also be hand-built using vacuumn tubes.
4. "Corvette" lettering will not only emblazen the windshield, but the side windows, and rear window as well.
5. The car will be lower to the ground and feature roller skate wheels bolted direcly to the frame that will contact the road if the body leans more than 1/4 inch negotiating a turn, thus providing superior sports car handling.
6. Due to the overwhelming popularity of torque converter automatic transmission model Vettes, the Dyna-Flow transmission from 1953 Buicks will now become the only transmission offered. A large paddle shifter mounted off the side of the the steering column for easier access when negotiating curves will offer the choice of forward, reverse, park and neutral, so as not to overload the mental capacity and physical dexterity of most current drivers.
7. New paint choices will include black and white checkers to provide an alternative to taxi cab yellow, and powder puff pink as an alternative to Carlisle powder puff blue.
8. All lights will be blackened out, and a hand-held flashlight provided for anyone driving after curfew.

I doubt it....that would hurt the Z06 sales and besides the engineers do not want to compromise the rigidity with a detachable roof with the big powered engines.
Dave Hill got mad at me for asking him why they don't build a Z06 convertible!
With a steel frame they don't have to worry about rigidity. That concern is only with the z06 aluminum frame.

Not only is he a troll, but he's the president of the trolls.
I can't see that happening. If GM was to put the LS7 into a cheaper car they would further alienate all of those that spent big dollars to get a Z06 over a GS in the first place.

GM thinks about a lot of things, but it seems like alienating people who have already bought their cars, is waaaay down the list. Unfortunately.

aahhh...that explains why so many z06 guys are bitter at the GS
Love the Base C6 and Grand Sport as well but I would like to see greater separation by power. Larger brakes and wide body of GS is cool but the engine and HP is the same. Like GS but I bought 2011 C6 narrow body with a few upgrades like NPP and J55 rather than GS largely because HP is the same. When GM gives GS a HP bump to justify the 5K plus cost I will buy one. Just saying!

I must have missed something (nothing new there). You're leaving because of "smartasses?"

If so I hope it's not the typical Corvette so-called special edition. I love Corvette and they make some great performance machines but decals, minor interior changes and a "celebrity" signature IMO do not make a special edition. Corvette should take a cue from Viper and issue a factory racer along the lines of the Viper ACR-X or the Competition Coupe. Now, if GM would make the Z06X Track Car Concept that would be a special edition.
