I found this link http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=42 while Googling, and it certainly has me thinking that my low profile tires are more prone to flat-spotting.

Again, as been said earlier by many, do not worry about flat spots. That is a thing of the past with older tire configurations.

Edit, I just read the above link to tirerack. Interesting, with that said I have never noticed any problems. But I'm never too old to learn something new.
Thanks for the link.

If this was really a problem, I would think we would hear a lot more about this. Cars sit for many a months (especially Corvettes) at the dealers and there doesn't seem to be any indication that it hurts the tires. JMO

Not all tires are the same. Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 non-runflats will flat spot. I have a car with them and after sitting it drives as though the tires were square-shaped for the first few miles. But then it goes away.

The flat stoppers and tire cradles are designed for two diffeent reasons.
They do not take care of the same problem.
If one is worried about flat spots and doesn't want to spent the big bucks , jack the car up and block it , removing a percentage of the weight off the tires. This will also take the loads off of springs and shocks too.
Or put the car on blocks and remove the tires.

Or better yet drive the car every day and forget about parking it.
Yeah I know this isn't always possible and I feel for my fellow Corvette owners that have to put thier car away for the winter.

Don't know if it's related to age or not, but I'll see what happens with those in the spring.
12 years old, seriously.

Where did you find GS D3's for a C6 non run-flat? I've been looking for months everywhere in stock C6 sizes and they DO NOT EXIST! Found the run-flats at a mere $2200 for a set of 4.

Had the GS-D3's on 2 C5's and was the best gripping tire I've ever been on. Amazing grip in even the heaviest of rain. I'd kill for a non-run flat version for standard C6 coupe....

So, where oh where did you find these?

Sorry to get your hopes up. The GS-D3s I referred to aren't on a Corvette. They are good in rain, though.

I have one on the HF dollies so that I can push it under one of the 4 post lifts. The car sat almost a year on them. They did not flat spot. The dollies are more than wide enough for the rear tires.

By the way it has been decades or more since tires flat spotted. I remember the nylon bias belted ones doing that but that was decades ago.

Goodyear engineers say that storing them on the floor when kept at the recommended inflation will not flat spot during storage.

You think talking about the problems 12 year old tires have is a valid example?

How old is too old to show that radial tires can flatspot? If one was to say a two year old tire will flatspot, I can't prove or disprove that. But I most certainly can tell you that a radial tire WILL eventually flatspot. I would love for a tire expert to chime in here (Wolfdogs?). Maybe someone like him could say that a radial tire will not flat spot for "X" number of years.

My GS-D3 non-runflat radials were nothing like 12 years old when I noticed they would flat-spot after the car (not a Corvette; sorry diyguy) sat for while. Maybe 2 years old. They recover their shape after a short drive.

I've stored my cars during winter for the last 30 years.
No pumping up the tires, no blocking up the car.
Most of my cars from 1980 to 1990 were stored in unheated garages all winter and never had any tires getting flat spots.
Long before run flats were a household word.
Last 3 years my C6 is in a heated garage with tire pressure set at 30 from the Summer.
Spring comes, start it up and drive it and do not notice anything different from when it was put away
To each his own

I see this with cars I've stored without radials, mid 60's and back. Usually took a few dozen miles to round them out again.

Is there a reason to spend $250 when you can get these for under $80?

No reason to spend a penny as flat spots are a non issue.

I don't think a 9" wide RV leveler tire saver is going to work with 12" to 14" wide tires.
