Anybody ever stored their car using Tire Cradles?
Looking through a vette magazine the other night, I noticed an ad for something called tire cradles, by a company of the same name. They are just as the name implies, and claim to significantly reduce flat spotting. They have some test data on their website, but I'm curious to see whether anyone here has used them and what their thoughts are??

Since they are flat I can't see how they would be any better.
These from Race Ramps seem like they would work better.

FWIW Harbor Freight has tire cradles w/casters. I don't know if they are wide enough or have the proper curvature for these tires. Most automotive magazines have a sales ad with 20% off coupons from them. Just an idea.

Didn't realize flat spots were a problem with modern radials.....

Personally I think they are a waste of money, and do not have any benefit. If you have run flats, they are hard as rock to begin with and will not flat spot over a few months. Just pump up your tires to 40 lbs, and you should be ok or rotate the wheel once in a while by jacking up each corner of the car.

Even in the icebox, I've never noticed flat spots in any of my radial tires.
Now, the old biased ply tires was another story.

Do you pump them up over 40 psi? Mine are at 42, and sitting on carpet pieces. Yet, I can't help but worry about flat spots and/or vibrations in the Spring. Although if the weather continues to be mild, maybe I can wake her from hibernation

I park my car on some pieces of styrofoam when in winter storage. I don't know if it stops flat spotting but I just seems like having the tires off of the concrete over the winter is a good idea.

Most people that buy these do so to be able to push their cars easily and tuck it in a corner of a garage or storage bay. .
I have friends that use these for exactly that reason.
On a flat surface, the cradles are easy to roll around, with only 1 person, but on race deck tiles or uneven surfaces, not so much.

I have the Race Ramp version. Never had the problem on my '07. Last spring when taking the GS out of storage, had a vibration at 65 to 70 mph that took 100 miles to go away. My tire guy says the wide tires will flatspot, contrary to most opinions here. Sure seems like that's what is was with mine. Will see what happens this spring.

I can tell you that radial tires most certainly WILL flatspot. I haven't had an issue with my Vette but I have with my other car. It was cold out and the vibration wouldn't go away like it does when it's warmer out. I also only drove the car about 25 miles. The tires are also 12 years old. Don't know if it's related to age or not, but I'll see what happens with those in the spring.

IMO, you really only need the car cradles for long term storage, like one year or more. For us winter storage guys who store our cars for just a few months,I don't think it is necessary.
