Default Valet key- what does it really do?

HI, I just upgraded to an 07 with 19k on it. It came with two fobs, black key, and a grey key marked "valet". I can't find what it does or how it works but I read on a few posts that they believe it limits the HP so the valet doesn't hot rod it. I can't find any reference to a valet key in the user manual, and I also don't understand how it would work since the car is a push button start and the only place for a regular key is in the back to unlock the trunk.
If anyone knows what the key is for and how to use it please let me know.

GM didn't make a key marked "valet" for the C6. Unless it's a joke, it probably belongs to another car.

Does that key fit the keyhole above the license plate? I bet it doesn't.

The only key I know about is the standard GM key that allows emergency entry into the vehicle when there is a complete loss of power.

I have never heard of a valet key for a C6. The only Vettes I know of that had one were the C4 ZR1's. Someone gave you a bogus key.

It could be a spare key the previous owner had made. Vette keys are the same as SATURN KEYS and whatever else GM felt like using them for.The difference??If you ask for a VETTE dupe key it's 20 bucks..a Saturn dupe key??2 bucks or so.

The mechanical key is only for opening the hatch, glove compartment, and console on '05 and '06. Sounds like someone bought a blank that was labeled valet and had it cut. It should be identical to the stock black key. Certainly not something to magically limit hp or not unlock all the compartments that the black key unlocks.

You're right, it doesn't fit the lock on the back of my car, the black one does though. I guess I could of tried it before posting. Thanks.

When you park you car in a public area, you could always toss the 'valet' key to the parking attendant - that way you have certainty it won't be opened, moved or driven

It's an actual key, not a fob, and I'm sure if they needed it they would call the dealership and they would contact me. I obviously don't need it and would gladly give it back.

That would be funny, but I am going to call them on Monday and have them contact the previous owner. If he needs it back I'll give it to him.
