Shop and shop and shop!!! Compare apples to apples and keep your cards close to your vest!! I just redid mine and found better insurance at half the price. Dropped State Farm and went with Safeco. 3 cars and house all with Safeco. Every area is different but you have to shop!

Check with AARP Hartford Insurance - I'm 69 and the wife is 70 - we have 2 C6's and a new Infinity QX56. We are both retired and I'm paying Hartford $837 per year. That's about half what I was paying Farmers. So far, the service is great

While shopping for a C6, decided to check insurance rate with my carrier, AAA Texas. To my surprise, only $347/year with high limits as a 3rd car, pleasure use only. I do get employee discount but this motivates me to find one asap ~!

I had Hagerty for years...and then I found Grundy crushed them! No more Hagerty.

$293 / 6mo for my 06 Cpe with homeowners and multi car through geico. Not bad, but worth shopping around.
Much less than my 03 Cobra was ($380)... of course that was also a convertible, which usually causes a higher rate.

Interesting. I was not aware of your NCM insurance site. Oddly enough, I compared to my present insurer (SF). Matched coverages as near as possible. Within, literally, $3 per year.
Might be different if I did a complete comparison for three cars, two homes, lots of umbrella coverage, boat/waverunners, etc. But as long as SF is in the ballpark I'm not willing to throw away the relationship goodwill acquired after 23 years. The agent has done a couple of favors along the way...plus, I'd have to memorize a new phone number :-)

It all depends on the savings. I stayed with SF for 30+ years. Went shopping and saved 50% for the same coverage.

I'm in the military and have used USAA for years. Got my 2005 a couple of months ago and my policy jumped 1200/yr. I'm 38 married w/clean driving record and own 4 cars total.
Found out about NCM Insurance here on the forum and checked them out. I just bought a policy today for $430/yr, same coverage amounts (100/300/100 + comp/coll and $250 deduct). 3000 miles/yr plus 9-5 feature that allows you to drive it to work a couple days per week. Am going to save approx $800/yr!!! Couldn't be happier.

Some of the companies mentioned in this thread don't rate real high. Just thought I'd post this.

USAA. I stopped comparing every couple years because no other company is close.
Doesn't matter what I pay as every situation is different.
Side note for laughs.......when I was 16 I paid $2300 yr. For full coverage on a new RX-7 in L.A.

I too have USAA and I have been a member since 1976. Great company, excellent claims service (for when you really need them).
If you drive a Corvette, your USAA auto insurance rate is probably going UP. My Corvette policy renews later this month and it INCREASED + 35% from my current period. My two SUV's on the same policy actually DECREASED 4% and 6.5 %, respectively. No wrecks, no tickets, no adverse CLUE/FICO, etc. The cars are garaged in Texas.
After researching this matter with USAA, I found that USAA will no longer use the ISO (?) rating database used by many companies and will now use their own internal loss experience database to rate their insurance products. My Corvette policy increased predominantly in the Comprehensive/Collision policy area with a fractional increase in the Liability section.
Granted, my currrent rate of $380/six months is reasonable. I carry very high liability limits, etc, which few companies will even write within the standard auto policy. My new rate jumped to over $500, which got my attention, since it is a "hanger queen". After adjusting the annual mileage to 8,000 year, my new six month rate will be $539. I figure that I might as well drive it more since my rate is going up.
Bottom line- shop around for rates but just remember, you have insurance to protect your property in case of loss. Make sure you pick a company that will provide excellent claims service. A cheaper rate does you little good if the claims service is lacking. The citation to Consumer Reports above is an excellent resource. My BIL drives a Vert, and two luxury cars. He chose not to use USAA and loves Amica. YMMV
Money Saving Tip: The USAA agent mentioned that taking a Defensive Driving Course could save me money on my policy in the next three years. Great idea and I will do that in the near term. Just have to call them when complete-no paperwork required.

When i added the Vette to my insurance, Southern Farm Bureau, it was no more than the other 3 vehicles on our insurance(04 Dodge 4x4 1500, Trailblazer, Infinity)
All of us have good driving records and have been with same company for 25+ yrs
I NEVER even shop rates, customer service means a lot more to me than saving a couple hundred bucks a year

State Farm here, $750/yr
I stick with State Farm because they have always handled any claims quickly and low hassle. It helps to get a good agent, I've had multiple claims that were not my fault on motorcycles and cars and my rates have never gone up. I'll stick with State Farm until they do me wrong...
