I live in NY and I'm thinking of tinting the glass in the rear hatch. I don't think there are any laws restricting darkness of the rear window. Am I correct?

I found this on the NYSDMV site. It is an application for exemption for medical reasons, but it does list what you are normally allowed at the top.

According to a NY State Trooper friend that is correct. Tint the back as dark as you want.

You're welcome. Their website isn't too good as far as search goes. It may still be a good idea to call up your DMV or local police dept for more info. They will be the people writing you the ticket, it may be worth a call to see what they look for.
