There is no high density foam in the kit for the seat backs. Are you referring to the seat bottom or the back?

Do you think door edge plastic will be strong enough?

I don't recall if the edge is sharp or jagged.

Anyway, you can smooth it with a file or dremel.

Then cover the edge with whatever rugged material you want. No one will see it, so use whatever works... cut some strips from an old backpack, fabric luggage, etc. Then secure with glue or duct tape (or both).

Maybe even something like
camper mounting tape camper mounting tape
.

He is referring to the bottom. For the sides new oem foam works. I have used the tape method mentioned myself. It worked well for the year or so that I ran with it.

That one will require some creativity. I don't have a solution for sale I'm afraid.

Two questions:
Is the kit still available?
Most important question, does the kit cost any head room?

don't know if this thread is still active but i could use some advise. I'm curtly in the middle of putting my seat back together and the reclining lever no longer fits, there isn't enough room to side it back on.

Has anyone come across this problem?

You have to be able to slide the reclining lever back onto the shaft enough so that the retaining clip gets back to the slit in the shaft.

If it won't slide on that far, you either have some padding in the way or the shaft has moved slightly back into the seat frame.

I actually used a Dremel to take off a little off of the back edges of the handle (not the shaft hole part) so I could get it to slide onto the shaft far enough to catch the slit.

Also, If you don't get the plastic cover back on correctly then you won't be able to get the recliner handle into the shaft hole far enough to catch on the slits in the shaft.

Did you cut the foam where the metal frame comes up the sides? If not nothing fits right.

Bought this a little over a year ago and already need to get another one. The foam used to cover the side bottom bolster is WEAK! It squishes within a year. Be forewarned.

I just bought another kit for the same seat I repaired a year ago.

The problem with memory foam is that it is rock hard when cold. Put a piece in your freezer.

Does the fact that some seats are heated come into play.I don't see any mention of the heating element (pad) and where it goes in relation to the foam.
Thanks

Heating elements have a different seat pattern in 2012 and 2013 compared to 2011 and earlier.

You can reuse your heating element. I don't have heated seats but I have seen others that did and upgraded their foam.

The heating element goes in the same place; on top of the foam. The seat rebuild kit goes on the bottom of the foam. I just did a foam replacement and used the rebuild kit to protect the new foam. R&R of the heating element was part of this job. Just needed to use a little 3M glue to keep it in place.
