Tease? Bluff? Let slip with C7 info?

Did he really say that during the auction of the 427 Vert?

EDIT: NM, I just read JoeC5's reply above. Very interesting...

Ron Pratte is a developer up in Chandler and is a very private person and obviously very successful to spend multiple millions on just one car purchase.

Some of the other cars in Ron Pratte's collection:

I would take that utterance as to there EVER being a 427ci again, not just in a C7.

What would the absence of future 427s have to do with the value of LS3s?

Maybe the C7 will get a 454? GM has to come up with something to keep up with Ford. I think it is insult to GM that a Mustang will have more HP than a Vette?

That was my take on it. Could have been a ploy to bump up the sale price, or could have been a bit of inside info. I think it was the latter.

My guess is that C7 high performance will come from multi-valve, direct-injected, forced-induction motors with fewer cubic inches. Thing is, I bet that will make more HP than the current LS7. So the LS7 "427" may be seen only as a dinosaur that survived extinction longer than the others, and a salute to the good old days, but no pinnacle of performance or technology.

As said already, the high bidder, Pratt, gets the right to buy the first one off the assembly line. VIN #1.
This car is owned by Hendrick and will probably stay with him. We don't know. We do know that THIS car did not sell today.
