Well, I have been to SP and Brazil before, and yes, I can't remember seeing a corvette. A couple Mustangs, but the rest were all small cars... for those up here in the states it seems odd, 2 liters is a big motor down there! A honda accord is as much as a new z06 up here.
Suggestion (like others have said) really look at bringing in body panels, if you buy them from a recycling place customs can not dispute the value and you just have to pay the import tax on the used value. http://www.corvetterecycling.com/default.asp - can sell you all the parts you want.
Or can you buy a wrecked car and get that imported as a "parts car" and then repair it? Good luck!

A Chevrolet straight six is a very common engine here. You can have one working good as new with US$ 1k. A small block, US$ 10k...
The GTB is a little bit rare. A good one is about US$ 10 - 20k. But the Puma GTS (on VW chassis) is around US$ 5 - 10k.
The GTS (VW air cooled / bug chassis)

It reminds me of my first car, a Fiat 850 Sport Spyder. I imagine it runs much more dependably than the Fix It Again Tony

Hi friends,
I'm talking from Brazil, a terrible place where there are no vettes...
Ok, Brazil has Corvettes. But 1 Corvette for each 2.000.000 people I think. There are more Lamborghinis than Corvettes here. A Corvette is a very rare car, and cost about US$ 500,000.00
But I love Corvettes. I love Corvettes since I was a child, since I bought my first car magazine and see a picture of a C4. The most wonderful car I ever seen. The perfect car. A big nose, rear wheel drive, V8, the most beautiful car made in the history.
Then, I decided to commit a crime: I will do my own vette. REALLY. A replica.
I already started with my replica project, and will share the progress here.
I know, a vette is a kind of holy thing, but I need to do it before I die. This is the only way I have to have one.
I am starting to do the best I can do, with a very accurate 3D model, and using fiberglass. I hope to see this car running some day.
Thanks for all and sorry for my crime...

But unbelievable is see your "Fix It Again Tony". We have the same joke. Translating will be something like "Italian rusty/lemon f... the traffic"...

Burning Brakes
I bought a copy of AutoMarket - brasilian publication -
Price for ZR1 = R$700,000
Z06 = R$640,000
Boss 302 = R$350,000
Conversion today is 1.71 So ZR1 is approx $415K US?
