they always do a shut down between generations....however if you drive over and peek through the fence you may get a glimpse at the C7 mule cars parked outside once production gets going not to mention the ones running up and down I 65

Either people don't read all the way through the posts before commenting or maybe I'm talking to "brain surgeons" here, I already said the money is not the issue, of course $7 is reasonable to tour the museum, just making a point about another American icon (HD) not charging for their tours.

Not only is there a significant retooling effort going on, there will be some prototypes having to be sent down the line. It is much easier to do these things without having to worry about who is in the plant and when.
Absolutely temporary. Don't want anyone sneaking a peek at the new car mules and pilots going down the line before the official introduction.

Unfortunately I live too far away to do any serious spying.

If the $7 bothers you, the Honda plant in Lincoln, AL gives free tours. When you're at Talladega running your Corvette around the Super Speedway, the Honda plant is very close by.

I've toured the plant four times, paying the admission charge each time. If it means that GM will keep the plant open for tours(ask them how many other GM plants are open for tours) I'll gladly park my Z06 for ten minutes to save up the coin for the tour.

So....For someone who's never owned a Corvette, is Corvette Museum delivery still a good deal if you can't do the factory tour?

Sure. You can always drive your Corvette on another road trip to again visit the museum and then take in the plant tour.

It's not a once offered experience visiting the museum or the plant.
