First Z06 Convertible Rolls off Line 2/22
While at the plant on 2/22 doing my first tour, I had the privilege to watch the first 2013 60th Anniversary Z06 Convertible roll off the line. (other than the one built for the Barrett Jackson Auction) Everyone there was really excited to witness this.

It isn't a Z06 convertible. It is a 427 Convertible.

Are they building 2013's already? I thought the one on auction was a replica only.

There might be as many as 70-75 cars of the next model year built on the assembly line prior to the actual official changeover date.

First, they announced it as "the first Z06 Convertible" to our group.
It was a pretty big thing that when it rolled thru the paint inspection light booth, that they parked it along side the line and others throughout the plant and museum folks with cameras came to photograph it.
Second, I may be wrong on the '13, because they didn't say that, but that's what it was called at Barrett Jackson.

That was not announced by tour guide, but by supervisor or someother gm line official that came over to our group to point it out. They allowed us to wait until it cleared the paint booth, then witnessed their applause.

What color was it?

Since most doubt what I saw and heard - I would like to tell you it was the new mystery blue, but it was white, complete with 60th anniversary badges & headrest logos. We were also told that stripes would be applied at dealer along with front badge.

I don't think anyone is questioning what you saw and heard. The fact is, though, that the 2013 427 convertible is not a Z06. Since you and your fellow tourists were told that the car was a Z06, the only conclusion we can come to is that whoever told you that was giving you incorrect information.

Since the stripes are a part of the 60th Anniversiry Limited Edition cars, I suspect that 100% will have the stripes installed, and that GM will do it, most likey paying a third party to perform the task.

Someone recently posted a picture of a GS with the fender stripes on backwards.

It may as well be a Z06 convertible because the power is all there as is the body. The weight on the other hand, not so much.As far as I'm concerned they can call it the Z06 VERT,60TH ANNIVERSARY VERT,427 VERT, or whatever the hell they want to call it.All that matters to me is that it's one very, very hot car and long awaited here in Corvette land! How many times over the years have I heard somebody say.."god,I wish the top came off the Z..God,I wish the 427 was available in my vert..etc etc"..Well,here it is all wrapped up in a nice little package!!!
