Mid-life crisis. Psh.

I bought my first Vette when I was 21 years old. Nineteen Vettes later I am about to turn sixty five. My mid life crisis lasted 44 years. And, is still going strong.

No midlife crisis here. I'm 50 and just got my first Vette at New Years. I have also gotten the mid-life crisis talk. I would have got one at 16 if I had the money at the time. Wanted one since I was a kid looking at the C2s and C3s. The reason I finally bought one is that the kids are grown and no longer on the payroll. The monthly payment for the car is less than paying multiple college and dormroom payments.

Gotta have 'em
Don't forget to buy a bunch of gold chains to wear and a fake chest hair piece.

Hey,
Don't feel bad, I get the mid-life crisis thing from my own wife all the time. When I was 50 I decided "On My Own" I would take a motorcycle safety course and upon completion I purchased my first motorcycle. This was not well received by my spouse but I looked at it like most of my life my parents and/or spouse push you away from doing something because it's not something they feel is unsafe etc.. My kids are young adults now so I just Did it!!! Shortly thereafter a situation developed that made it possible to buy a vette, this time the wife said "Just Do It!!!". She loves the car and didn't twist my arm to give up the bike to get the car although when I stop riding she won't be too shook up On another note how would you like it if a family member says, "It must be nice to have money" anytime you purchase something that's a bit pricey, I'll take the mid life crisis any day.

Do you really care when people make these stupid remarks, one that has been used forever and I guess at one time it was supposed to be funny.

Wow, you did have a crisis in mid life. Your crisis was that you wanted a Corvette and you didn't have one. Now that is the crisis. The mid life part is how long it took you to be able to afford it which is true for most of us. Remember, there are only two kinds of people, those who drive Corvette and all the rest who wish they could.

i always laugh when i hear that because im 39. That being said i was looking through some local vette club sites and was browsing through a photo shoot from their last get together...uh lets just say i would have a minimum of 20 years on everybody in the pictures, which was about 50. So the old mans sports car stereotype does carry some merit

no mid-life crisis
I got my first vette on Christmas eve 2011. I've seen 63 years come and go. During that time I have always had some kind of high performance mode of transportation, mostly of the two wheel variety, Ducati's Triumph's and the occasional Honda. I found my passion early, it's having something that requires a certain level of skill to operate efficiently. My father used to say "life is a banquet and most poor SOB's are starving to death." Haters gonna hate.....

So I've had my vette a couple of weeks now. I'm 38. Love the car, gets lots of compliments and thumbs up on the road.
I know you shouldn't listen to what others are saying, and not sure if I should be offended, but I've had several people say, "oh, having a midlife crisis eh?".
First, I think I'm too young for a midlife crisis secondly I didn't go from a minivan to a vette. I've slowly increased my quality of vehicle as I have been able to and have always had some form of sportscar.
Just venting I guess, but it just annoys me.

When I bought my vette a year ago, I had a couple friends say, "now you're going to be a pretentious vette owner." My responses were, "Oh, like you aren't already that way in your little Corolla drift club, lol"
