Excellent. I'm blessed to have a fabulous vette tech team that bends over backwards to make sure the job is done right and I'm happy.

Sounds like you've got the beginning of such a relationship with those guys. It's a good relationship to develop.

And it's unfortunate not every service dept can manage to behave like this with customers of the top product.

There s an old saying" you put your grease where you want to slide" .I always tip the Service writer and the tech. They remember and it pays off.

So if your 50% was going to be $800.00, you were going to be charged $1,600 for a balancer and water pump? Seems a little high. Glad it worked out in your favor...

Great customer service story.

Wish there were more of them (unlike dealerships not knowing how to change the oil properly).

These kind of stories are few and far between.

It makes one wonder though, if one dealer can do this why cant the rest of them do it also.

I second that. Sounds like that went way beyond the call for you. Great story.

Neither the harmonic balancer or the waterpump should have failed in only 21,000 miles. GM chooses to continue to use inadequate components from inadequate suppliers. Neither of these components should have failed in less than 100,000 miles.

I have a similar story and I think GM is bending over backwards to do some promotional work. Took my 2005 Impala DD with 75K miles in a couple of months ago and part of the problem was a transmission issue. Service rep said about $2000 for the job but he would see if GM would pick-up part of it. Turned out to run me around $800 for the job. Thank you very much!

Are you sure this wasn't just a mistake on their part and not customer service. I think I would have had a heart attack or thought I was on punked if that happened at my dealer. Heck I always walk into my dealer with a tube of lube and ready to bend over because that's how it typically is(thats why I never do it anymore).

I took my brother-in-laws 07 vert to a local blower shop that works mostly on older cars and they did it in 4.5 hrs @ 95 per. There is a shop in Texas that does it between 3.5 and 4 hrs. I have to wonder what kind of special training the Chevrolet techs had so that they could accomplish this task in just a little over twice the time that non Chevrolet trained mechanics can do the job. (And THEN charge a premium hourly rate for working so slow)
