Sadly, development is no longer being driven by free market forces...it's being dictated (based on often manipulated factors).

Not surprising, especially considering this is a whole new generation with new tech. The move would be similar from the LTx to LSx naming scheme when it went from Iron to Aluminum blocks (amongst other changes). It'll still be a SBC though.

Plus, they're running out of numbers for an easy single digit lineup within the LS series.

The big V8 will be no longer soon. That is why a friend of mine has two brand new 2009 Z06's with less than 400 miles on them. Going to Mecum Auction in 10-15 years from now to pay for grandkids college.

I wanted to see an LS8 in the new Z06. And see a direct injected/revised LS7 carry over to the base models.

Better sell them now and do prepaid...I don't see 10-15 years being enough time to get any significant ROI

But it's nothing new. We have been going through government regulations dictating engine technology since the early '70's. This is not the first rodeo for going to smaller and in many cases force induction engines due to rising gasoline prices, CAFE pressures and reduced emissions.

Per my post above, this is not the first time that the end of the V8 engine was predicted. I can tell by the posts who on this forum are over 50 years old and who is not. Those of us who were car-nuts in the '60s have seen this movie before.

I remember the first time I saw the spaghetti of "air injection" into exhaust manifolds to clean the air, or dilute it. Anyone remember a "thermal reactor" for emissions? I only know one car that used it.

I agree with the Big V8 days are gone..but..

Tell your friend I hope he's sending those grand kids to Junior College, or Community College The C6Z is not going to fetch any significant amount of money in that time period... there are about 30,000 produced now they are hardly "rare" .

Hey, and am a Z06 owner
