Best Brake Pads?
Hey Guys,
Gonna do my first brake job on my 07 with Z51.
Whats the best pads to go with that produce the least dust, and no noise?
A local vette shop recommended to stick with AC Delco OEM over aftermarket.... that its the best that they come ... can this be true?

For your wants/needs I like the Hawk ceramic pads. I prefer the HPS, but they do dust a bit. It's less than OEM pads though

AC Delco's work, cost is a lot less, but are far from the best.
Ceramic pads will give you the least amount of dust and noise. However they are not designed to be utilize beyond the street.
One of the best (you did say best) ceramic pad is Carbotech Bobcat 1521. I seldom endorse any products, but I am VERY impressed with the 1521's ability to stop (for a ceramic pad), little to no noise (only noise is when they are cold which is easily remidied by one hard press on the brake pedal) and the little amount of brake dust they produce.
If you want a racing pad and want "the best" I'd look at a Ferodo, Carbotech, Porterfield, Carbone-Lorraine etc.

Hi Mr. Lex, welcome to the Forum from a fellow LI'er, great place this forum, LOTS of useful info and most (notice I say MOST) members are very helpful. Please let us know how you make out with these (or any you choose) brake pads, although I only have 18K miles on my car I am also ready to "just say no" to dust and squeal so I'll be changing out soon, thanks!

I bought the car with 20k miles in 2k10 certified pre owned, so it had newer brakes on. (2k7 model) ...now I'm at 40k.

There are many decent brake pads taking into account the individual's needs and preferences. With the solid rotor OEM brakes I used to like the Performance Friction C5 Z-compound pads. I wanted a somewhat more aggressive pads for increased effectiveness both on the track and the street. I never had any brake squealing or an excessive brake dust problem.
