Michelin PS2 ZP - I love them, but you do lose a little sharpness on the initial turnin to the corners. I fixed that by adding JOC sway bars.

just an update. goodyear called and said they'd give me $145 credit for each front tiree and $250 credit for each rear tire. the cost to outfit the car with supercar tires again would be $1100+ with labor.

Your choice, but I'd tell them to pound sand, then go buy a set of Michelins or Firestones.

I agree; that's a pretty awful offer on their part. I'd go get different tires, Bridgestone, Michelin, Firestone, etc.

Suggestion: to write them a formal letter and send it to Goodyear president about their poor offer and losing a (nother) customer.

It's not 5 years?

Depends on his allowance. I got a brand new set of 4 otd for $800 mounted w/life time balance. I already had 12k on the OE set so I wasn't going to complain.

Your tires are gone, mine did the same thing . Swap them out ASAP , bad idea to drive on them.

Don't go to a Good year store , they will lie about the warranty.

You have 3 years tire manufacture warranty prorated. Looks like you waited to long my friend. Some GY tires dry out very soon , others take a few years. It's happened to lots of Vette owners.

Inside of one year of ownership they replace them free. This is What I did.

My 2008 is 4 years and 5 months old so are the tires, they have about 2K miles on them. Car was kept 90% of the time on the dealer showroom floor, until a little over 1 month ago when I bought it here in Maui Hawaii. Weather - day time high in low 80's low in high 60's normal humidity not dry not wet. Figure I can get another total wear out of the tires, since top speed limit on the island is 55 mph

PS- My tires have no cracking look like they are brand new.

are you sure you're not just obsessing over something that you don't have to obsess over? I doubt you will ever have an issue with the tires (but we haven't seen pics). If I were you I'd just drive it till they wear out at about 25K miles, and get new tires then, less hassle, less rim damage, less removal of weights glue...

That is well worth doing. By the way even though the tires may have been dry rotting they still are run flats. So what if the tire loses air pressure?? It still won't result in a catastrophic failure. That is the beauty of run flats even a blow out isn't noticeable except for the bang when the air is released.

Quick question...

I've been following this post because I have 7300 mi. on my tires and the tread is just about GONE. Over the weekend, I had the tires off and noticed some cracks going across the tire.

Can you explain what process you went through to get the final offer of $78 and $96? Why did Goodyear call you back with a much better offer? Did you have to write the Big Man on Campus to get that deal?

It's ridiculous that we have to go through this in the first place!! But I've been pricing new tires, and I have about choked every time I see the total for 4 tires, mounted and balanced (btw, I have a 2011 GS). So for around $350, I think I'd put a new set of the GY SuperJunks on. I've only had the car 13 months too, so this is just ridiculous. Please let me know what process you went through, if you don't mind. Thanks.

you don't need new tires, you don't drive the old ones.

It's a good thing I don't, or else I'd have a second mortgage out on my house in order to pay for tires.

considering you've been on here for years and all the threads re watch your tires, redo your alignment, etc., what more can anyone say?

Just curious here but is your car exposed to sun a lot? Constant exposure to sunlight will cause surface cracks, I have some F1's that have been sitting brand new in my garage since 2010, they are perfect...

im not sure i want good year playing with my car. decided to take it to the dealer who offered similar offer on tires. will probably just have them do it since the car was in for other warranty work. they want to charge 120 for an alignment, i think i will pass. car drives straight.
