I noticed two thread combinations on the gs however both are goodyear gen 2 tires. One (which is on my centennial edition) are far more agressive looking than what seems to be on the standard gs.

Can anyone explain the difference between the two?

Pretty sure that the standard OEM tire on Grand Sports is NOT a Gen2. The Gen2 is available only as part of the F55 package on Grand Sports. (F55 is included in the Centennial Edition, thus so are Gen2 tires.) See Ordering Guide page 40 and page 78.
